    Surely the cyano is caused by an Underlying Problem..... So isnt using this drug mearly treating the symptom not the cause? So maybe it is a quick fix, maybe not i cant say. But if the cyano can come back from a black out, maybe it can come back after treating it with the medication.

    Cayno outbreak is caused by nitrates bottoming out, in other words close to 0ppm NO3. Also caused by high levels of disolved organics. Both of these are easy to address. Ensure you dose macros properly and ensure you syphon the gravel, clean the filters and do your water changes.

    BUT......have a look at how many people keep battling with cyano over and over even though they address these issues. So what do we do then? I guess medication is the only solution. Also check with Prof Dirk, as he sells a product aimed specifically at medicating cyano and he has been pretty successful with it.

    The fact is Henk, we all break the law at some time or another in our personal capacity by keeping a species / plant / shrimp / snail that is on "THE LIST"

    Laure, Thanks, I will make a turn at my vet and let him feel my nose, stick a thermometer up my @ss and get some......:blink1:

    Hi all

    Maths was never my strong suit. Could you please assist with the following:
    Dosage 200mg to 10 gallons.

    I have 400l to treat and there are various conversions for gallons.

    How many mgs Erythromycin should I add?

    Thanks

    Scaly

    ps I have totally blacked the tank out but do not want a recurrence of this scourge.

    Used on US gallons

    1l=0.264g
    400X0.264= 105.6g

    105.6g/10=10.56

    Meaning add 10.56x200mg = 2112mg=2.112l

    Maybe im wrong, but thats a lot!

    4.5L = 1 Gallon

    So 400L = 89 Gallon near enough, so....

    200mg x 8.9 = 1780mg = 1.78g

    Still a lot, but less than above!

    Are you sure its 200mg per 10g, and not 20mg?

    Does sound like a lot, but I've not used this drug before!

    Regards
    G!
