corner tank initial concerns

    Hi guys

    What size pump would I need for 180l any brands or just a pump that can meet the flow rate was also thinking of doing a sump underneath the tank in a cabinet what height below the tank can I go and how big should the sump be

    I would say no less that a 2ft/60l depending on what you can fit in the bottom, also in my experience I had more problems with head height than rate/hour but general rule is 5 time your tank volume so that would be about 900l/hour pump but you mite have to go a bit higher depending on your stand height and just play around with the tank inlet to make sure the current is not too fast for the fish you want to stock in the tank.

    The rate of the pump is debatable as people have had success with both lower and higher rate per hour in their sumps due to being able too add more filter media in the sump.

    I got a 700l tank with enough matrix for a 1200l tank doing 2000l/hour with no problems
