good luck @Firefly i hope your tank holds, take lots of pics now so you have some thing to enter at least if everything goes down the tubes. Thanks @Sean J and @Wyvren i got the tank next to my bed so i do alot of watching lol. the pixie lillies are doing alot better but i'm not sure of my excel dosage. i'm dosing 0,2ml everyday but i wonder what the max would be in a 15L stcocked tank that i could dose. i'm definately developing algae so Gary is not doing such a good job hehe. i added a few more crypts that i had in another tank as i wanted them to multiply and the one corner looks much better. i'm also thinking of snagging a desk lamp for extra light., what globe would be best if i do?

oh and Kratos loves his new digs since Apsolem fin nipped and has subsequently got an infection on that area and is now in a hospital tank being treated, he is nt very happy lol.

@windfire I dose my 30L every day with 0.8ml excel so I reckon bumping the dosing up to 0.3-0.4ml won't do damage... and for the algae i give it a decent 2ml shot once a week... plus my photo period is insane. Just wish I can stop using it as a hospital until after the comp closing date. As for the desk lamp I would suggest using an energy saver but one of those warm white 14w lamps. Light intensity is right without too much radiant heat.

    Hi All

So my glosso aint carpeting as well as I hoped it would have. But over all I think the tank looks good. I hoped the glosso wouldn't have taken a knock from the transition from my main tank to the nano, but it seems it did. I already gave the nano its first trim so I won't trim it again until the comp has ended. All in all I am happy with the scape and the tank in general.:smile1:

Thanks @Double-D i'll up the dosage a wee bit again. hmm ok i was at the mall today but wow its crowded and not being a fan of the whole shopping thing i started to get irritable, throw in some pinching shoes and i forgot half of the shopping i was suppose to do including the desk lamp hehe. i still got xmas shopping to do so i will go back. i have noticed some new growth on the microsword which i am amped about.

i was wondering if trimming the microsword would help it make the adjustment and improve growth? Like the way you would before transplanting terrestrial plants like agapanthus or day lillies?

I would not use a warm white on a nano again. Gave me no growth and loads of algae. Rather use cool white or daylight.

My comp tank was turned into my office nano today. Can't wait for it to cycle so I can have some fishy company at work.

Not sure what I want to put in it yet.

    Good stuff!

So we are now in the final stages of the competition folks! I hope all is going well, and that you are just about ready to start taking some pics!! I think it has been a very successful competition, with everyone having a good challenge on their hands. I hope to see some great results in the tank department! I can't wait to see what South Africa can accomplish! Only 2 more weeks to go!

woo, my microsword was pearling " does the happy dance" i think the double dosing of excel is working, im dosing 0,3ml in the morning and a further 0,4ml around oneish, which is wen the sun is shining directly into the tank.

so now the question should i be adding more ferts, i'm trying to squeeze as much growth as possible out in the next 2 weeks, with the microsword sending out new leaves as well i'm hopeful of it looking exactly how i imagined it to be.

another question is should i trim one last time before the end, would it give the new micro sword leaves more of a boost if the older leaves from the emmersed growth were removed? hmmm it occurs to me i should have done this a week or 2 ago....

really trrying to resist fiddling lol

Hehe grats. I just did a mini trim. The one thing i am chuffed about is how my needle leaf java fern is doing. Some of my plants are looking amazing the rest are looking good but has a way to go still.

@windfire - That's great news! Well done! Perhaps, you should leave it be for now? There is only 2 weeks to go, and I think the less fiddling the better, for now. Let it grow in.

lol your probably right Sean. the tank is next to my bed so i look at it alot and the more i look the more i go "ooooo that could be trimmed n that n that lol" the plus side is the pixies are doing alot better! the bunny poop trick really works lol. i'm glad i can leave this design for a few weeks after the comp i'm thinking of trying to take it on hols with me lol. so i can dose it while i'm away and can see how it mature lol
