25 days is actually a blerry long time! Hmmmm might have to do some aggressive pruning soon to keep the tank looking great. Some of theplants actually surprised me with how well they are doing, at this point i some times actually wish i didnt have the small jebo with a lid to let the plants grow emmersed. As it is i have to trim every two weeks to keep on top of the growth.

That's great Wyvren!! Pruning every 2 weeks on a tank with no Co2 is fantastic growth!! You should be pretty proud of that!

But a hard trim for plants is often a good thing! It makes them grow bushier and denser! It's a good thing!

@Sean J - heheh I know its good for them but not so much on my stress levels :p I will have to do an aggressive pruning in my 40L tank tho, some of the plants after the rescape is struggling a little bit. Altho they are slowly bouncing back now. This little comp tank I must admit is very low maintenance on my part at this point, besides the trimming and fighting to get some stems to stay in the substrate (Im awaiting my plant tweezers hopefully in the next week or two). Thus far I think it is safe to admit to the fact that currently I am dosing ferts and excel once a week with a water change once a week. But other wise I leave the tank be. I have adopted a no fiddling rule. Just to prevent myself from doing silly things :p

lol good plan @Wyvren. mine seems to be doing well too and i have solved the riddle of the pixie lily leaves coming off its fertilizer related and i only really clicked on friday when i saw how the one in my 55l is doing, it hasnt shed leaves and its got PFP capped so there you go so when i went to dog training i found some bunny poop as Azurekoi reccomened and will put them in tonight lol. the leaves on the pixie lilies themselves have changed to a dark bronzy smaller leaves. really happy with it, if i can just gget the microsword going then i'll be really happy, growth should pick up next week when i move home as i'll have a nice desk lamp to use for light and i'll keep the photoperiod high since i always go to bed late. and i'm using seachm flourish, 0,3ml once a week and excel every day. i like the fact we got so much more time. the tanks will look even better with the extra time to mature.

Unless it's 4 in the morning and the lady is getting upset? Then it's definitely too late to start a tank!! :amazed:

I can see that not having a nice tank for so long has gotten to me. I'm going bonkers!!

Guys, I hope the extra time is helping you out? I cannot wait to see the entries!! Myself and my fellow judges are waiting with baited breath!

So if I have to suffer so must you! Ironically my comp tank is looking amazing, where as my guppie tank is looking meh, for some reason the stems in there decided they are not happy.

@Sean J oh yes and my tank has much more light now too getting 2 hours or so direct sunlight, and im dosing excel every day so im ready for a growth explosion. i cant decide if the algae bloom i had recently is a good thing or a bad thing lol. oh and my 8 galaxies are all together in the tank and its awesome! they school sometimes and venture around on their own too which is good as it means they comfy in their new home. they provide some nice movement in the middle and lower levels as they explore things alot! i'm totally in love with them. now the challenge of remaining hands off. oh and my move back to joburg from pta went without too much trouble and the tank design survived relitively unscathed so yay me lol.

That is awesome to hear @windfire! Im contemplating a minor rescape in my comp tank, also i have to ensure there are no more snails hiding in the tank just so they can die behind my plants where i cant see them. Already lost one white cloud just as i started to love them, will have to go pick up another one later today to replace it and get the group back up to five.

@windfire - That's fantastic!! I hope you don't have crazy algae blooms. But the Excel should take care of that.

After my waterchanges today and rearranging my bigger tank after I cleaned out half the plants that died in there I have decided not to tempt fate and leave my comp tank alone. I will try tho to dose a bit more excel to boost some growth after I trimmed a few plants and managed to upset (aka pi$$ed off) my male fighter since the one plant I had to trim was his sleeping plant. And now he sleeps ontop of the heater . . . .

I decided to change tanks to a jebo R338 which I had lying around. Half filled it with water and realized the crack I had fix had spread...After setting the tank back up on the patio, i realized my 1 ft "spare" comp tank was leaking fast. Took out the water and found the base had cracked along the whole width. So much for that. Looks like the cracked jebo will have to hold until the due date. Que duct tape...
