You know, I'm not even in this competition, but I read this thread at least once a week...

Every time I learn of somebody's scape not going the way it's supposed to (or a story of losing them completely, forcing a start over); I feel terrible for all of you. When I read how well things are going in another's tank, I give a silent applause (if I did it aloud, the people in the office would have me admitted in an instant).

My point here is that, even though I have nothing to do with this competition, I am still so keen to see the results.

I wish you all the best of luck... No doubt every one of you will present something great.

PS: I for one am not happy about the extension. It means that I now have that much longer to wait...!

    PPS: Congratulations @Rory!

@GG13 - That is a great post, and I for one, thank you for your support! It's great! I am sure every single person who posts in this thread will also thank you for your support.

Believe me, I wish I didn't have to extend the deadline. But alas, it is something that was out of my control.

Oh yeah, @Rory - That is great news! Congrats!

    @Rory Congrats!

@GG13 - I have to agree I can't wait to see all the tanks. And trust me its hard to keep quiet about the tank.

so i changed my ferts today and will have to wait and see the difference. i must say though that the seachem flourish actually smells like a fertilizer. not sure on my dosage i may be erring on the side of caution.

i love my galaxies by the way they are alot of fun to watch when they interact, 2 of them do what i think of as the shimmy shimmy dance which i think is a dominance thing, very cute to watch though lol.

@GG13 thanks for the support i think we all excited to see what everyone has come up with.

That shimmy shimmy dance could also be a spawning ritual... So keep an eye out for them spawning. They are apparently very easy to breed.

@GG13 - thanks, the deadline is the real issue, in a normal tank you leave things alone, if it does not work as planned it is not a big issue. Here we all have some clue what we wanted it to look like and in the time allowed most of us have probably changed that view a few times also. Added to this the fact that I can count on my one hand the nano-builders on TASA who have a recipe that just works for the rest of us this is very new.

I am less keen on the results and more interested on how many will continue the grow the Nano's to its the full potential.

oooo but the 2 that i got today are still juvies and havent even got their colours in yet. thats exciting though i'd be so chuffed if i got them to breed though the tank they will eventually go into will be better for fry alot more hidey places and alot of moss for feeding and spawning mops. the other 5 i got on friday are at home in a grow out tank

So after 2 extremely hectic weeks I looked at my dead comp tank tonight and thought let me try something with what I have left.
Nothing living made it out of the tank and only a hadful of plants barely made it.

I did however turned on the light each day and kept the filter going to cycle it again. Also to see if there was anything to save from my fissidens.
So tonight I started removing dead plants and replanting little bits of new growth. Removed most of the fissidens to another tank.

And here I could not believe my eyes!! At the top of the water surface swam a single little fry about 2.5mm big :D
My Lampeys or Kubotai must have laid eggs jus before the move and somehow this little guy made it trough everything.

Not sure for how much longer but will keep an eye out for the little guy each day.

So tomorro I will try and do some more replanting with what I have and see how it goes.

Well I will also be redoing the comp tank as I found I had some BL plants in it(really didn't know they were blacklisted, we should add pics to the BL thread). So I will be rescaping and use what ever I can from the plants I propegated from the big tank. Going to keep it simple but hopefully eye catching. The endlers in the tank are doing fine and there are fry in there already, will be moving more endlers to the tank after the rescape tonight or tomorrow.

hmm, this got me thinking! It would be fun to see the tanks in say 6 months time, just for interest's sake? Well, those that make it that far!
What do the rest of you competitors think?

I've gotta say, I've been alarmed at all the rescaping... I'm not a fiddler, so have kinda sat back and hoped for the best!

    NOT looking too impressive yet!!!:smile1:

neither do mine @hein24 its something that takes time to learn methinks. it could be fun @Tracy P but most of the stuff in mine is destined for petstops comp tank which i'm going to start next year in january so no go for me i could keep it going for december but thats it.

I think so far I have been very lucky with my tank. A few minor setbacks but that is it. My scape will most likely stay as it is for the foreseeable future.

So everything is pretty much back in place. Just need to get some growth out of it. Also need to think what I am going to do in terms of a carpet.
Have some long terms plans for the tank after the comp. Just need to get the rest of my rocks from Ermelo.
