Personally, I think this is the crux of everything that has been said in this thread. Co2 will totally improve the growth and overall health of your plants.

I am thinking of taking the plunge, but i swear if getting my head around lighting was hard this co2 is ten times worse.there are so many little gadgets at play here if you go as zoom displayed,i like what he is trying to do but i myself being diy dof wouldnt even bother(i actually drew blood setting up my tv).i would never know how to set/configure all these valves and needles,i'm assuming the store bought ones come with instructions?

    Store bought with instructions.... HAHAHA

Sorry mate... the store bought one will look EXACTLY like mine. A few minor differences here and there.

Tell you what... when you have got your set up... get in contact with me and I'll talk you through the process.

Actually... better still... send me a PM with your email address and when I get a chance next week I will drop you some information.

thats cos they dnt sell a dual gauge regulator ,they have a single and they dnt sell small cylinders ,you gota get a fire exstinguisher and fit the gauge. they wanted R1200 for their co2 reg, there are other options tho ebay perhaps? works out cheaper,im concidering this option.

Zoom, I have read your Yeast CO2 post in the past and then this one. It sounds like you are completely converted to a pressurized system.

I myself tried the Yeast CO2 thing to see if there was a marked improvement but as you guys know you do not really have control over how much CO2 is introduced, so I had to monitor my fish closely and I have to aerate my tank after my fish was distressed. Since then everything has been fine and I can see a marked improvement on the plant growth, compared without the CO2.

Time to look for regulators and needle valves in Cape Town. If anyone knows of any reputable suppliers, I am possibly going to get a 2kg CO2 extinguisher tomorrow.

    Dankie Gerhard,

Ek het hom 'n PM gestuur.

I got 2 X 2kg fire extinguishers for R160 , and ended up buying a regulator for R420 which I don't think is a bad price. So far R580. Now, can anyone help me find a CO2 solenoid and needle valve by any chance?

    Cheers,

    Rudi

Yes... I have dappled with yeast CO2.... and yes I did notice an improvement on my tank, however I also noticed the algae benefited more from it. It's too unstable in big tanks.

Contact @Altum for solenoid and needle valve. He has helped me obtain both these seperately in the past.

Hi guys can anyone please give me some advice regarding a co2 system for my aquarium. I received a Harris model 25-700 oxygen regulator for free. Can this be used for a co2 application on my aquarium. I still need a co2 tank, I want to get a 5kg co2 fire extinguisher, still need the bubble counter and co2 checker and the checker drops and all the other minor stuff. Please help guys. Thanks in advance.
