    If there is a builders warehouse in Nelspruit, then you will probably find them there.

    Hi Sean,

    Thx for bringing in all the ADA stuff. I have posted a thread with a few question regarding my coffee table setup. As far as CO2 goes, I was wondering if the ADA Advanced CO2 system is only for tanks 15G and less? My tank is about 140L, so 35G, will it work or should I rather go with some of the other bottles and regulators etc. that you are talking about in this thread?

    Hey @Drogo...

    I would go with a bigger Co2 kit. The Advanced system is too small for a tank this size. I should be getting some kits like this soon... I'll let you know when I do.

    If anyone is looking for CO2 - I bought a 7kg CO2 cylinder + wheel valve for R547 in Blackheath (Cape Town) at SafeQuip.
    They are nationwide and I assume prices will be similar. (Remember to specifically ask for a wheel valve and not a trigger unit)

    @FreshWater

    It makes absolutely ZERO different what type of 'tap'. Whether its trigger or wheel, you need to open the bottle fully.

    This applies to all gas bottles working with a regulator by the way.

    A regulator functions under pressure. . . Therefore you will ALWAYS want your CO2 open full. Therefore, in my opinion, trigger works better.

    Ok thx. I have very little experience with this, but when I bought a Milwauke CO2 regulator from Altum he was very clear that I should get a wheel valve and avoid a trigger unit.

    Never heard of that problem. Im taking 2 bottles for refilling this week, so I will raise this query with them. I know all the other plant gurus on this forum prefer the trigger valves.

    @Zoom - Not all of them, LOL!

    I do though. Firstly, it's about R120 cheaper to get the fire extinguisher, than a twist valve. Enough said really. I have been using them for ages and never had a problem yet.

    Truth is the difference is in how you want to use your CO2 canister and what regulator and kit you have behind that. Some of the regulators do not allow for manual adjustment of the working pressure - but are rather pre-set, other regulators allow for the setting of the working pressure, so the wheel valve or trigger with either of these two regulator configurations will work, but do you have a magnetic valve for a night switch? If so you need to think twice!! If you have a magnetic valve and a regulator that is pre-set, then using the trigger type CO2 canister could be an issue " ATTENTION:While using Solenoid Regulator, please slowly turn on CO2 tank to prevent to trigger the flame-proof switch inside Solenoid Regular. (Triggering the flame-proof switch will cause Solenoid Regular shut down; then the Solenoid Regular need to be replaced)" is the typical warning you will get from people selling these types of regulators. My theory (and it still need to be tested) is that if you can manually set the working pressure and you set it to its lowest then you should be able to use the fire extinguisher trigger model with any magnetic valve.

    But another point - a local LFS now has exchange CO2 (not refill) and it is the same bottle that I have (got it from Sean J), now if it did have a normal wheel valve I would be able to do the 2kg exchange for R140 for convenience that is hard to beat.

    Still I am happy with my trigger (for now :cool:) ...

    Guys, the regs are going to get here in 10 days time. Unfortunately, I am going on a well needed holiday next Saturday, and I will be away for 2 weeks. I was hoping to get them sooner, before I went away, but it just hasn't worked out that way. They will be here by the time I get back though...
