Cleaning a Dophin C1600 canister filter?

dolphin c-1600: I read somewhere that you have to switch the intake off let it drain then turn power off, switch outtake valve off, then open... is this correct? - The only issue I have had would be once i have shut it off - how do i get the water out the canister so it does not run on the floor?

 

The Dolphin and Cascade filters are nearly identical, and should follow the same method of shutting down.
1. Close the inflow valve while the filter is running.
2. Leave for a few seconds, then unscrew.
3. Repeat with the outlet valve.
4. Shut off the filter, and you can remove it to clean.

To restart it, simply screw the hoses on, open both valves and watch the canister fill.
Once it is full, you can start the filter again.

The filter is a sealed unit, with the lid clamps keeping it securely closed.
I usually work in the bath, as should there be any spillage, it is easy to clean.

1. Unclip all 4 clamps.
2. Remove the head unit, and place it in the bath.
3. Remove the baskets.
4. Upend the canister either in the wash basin or toilet.
5. Clean the filter material.
6. Remove the impeller, and clean.
7. Assembly is the reverse of the previous steps.

 

I switch off my filter, close the valves, then I just unclip the the top part, take out the bottom part with all the trays and slide a bucket in underneath the top part, no leaks mess or fuss
