@Skye01 please pm me your email address so I can send you a price list. TASA only allow's 5000 words. The list contains over 8000 characters. The price list is more of a guideline really and then it depends what I have in stock, I have only recently started breeding and its a slow and time consuming story but I'll get there. Remember I'm only breeding in my living room and it's for the passion of the fish and not as a business. I think every home should have at least one A grade show quality Betta.

Hi all, please remember that I only breed Betta Splendens for the passion I have for this particular species. I do not breed wholesale nor do I run a business. I breed them in my living room. I sell them to support my hobby in the 1st place, secondly, we don't have A Grade show quality Betta Splendens readily available in SA, we only get what the LFS's sells us and we must take it or leave it, well to be quite frank then, I'd rather leave it. Now that I know what an A grade show quality betta should look like, the LFS's sell's muts IMO. Yes I suppose they must cater for all concerning price range and all of that, but I mean really... most of the LFS's I went to has no clue about them accept you can keep them in a little jar... I'd like to display them in a little cage and then we'll see if they can live in those conditions...My aim is to produce A Grade Show Quality Betta Splendens in SA for SA and at a fair price so we can all, or at least those of us that love Betta Splendens may have a superior Betta in our homes and/or part of our hobby's and even show them national and international and educate people who wants to keep them concerning their needs. It is difficult enough to import them and if you do come right, it's almost never what you see in the pics that you ordered from. It is not a cheap hobby to maintain as you all well know, and to top it all of, the average lifespan of a Betta is between 2-3 years max depending on conditions and so forth. Thus you only have a limited window of oppertunity to breed them and it's hard work to take care of them and the fry is even more hard work. Why am I telling you all this? I get the distinct feeling people think I'm a business in disguise... I promise you I'm not. Should my hobby take off and its doing well, well then it will be another story and I will register as a business, but for now it's only a hobby and I don't like it... I LOVE IT!

Thanks for everybody's interest and inputs, I appreciate it a lot. You are never to old or to young to learn.

TASA is a great site and I've learned alot here thanks to you all. Keep it up. A special thanks to the Moderators of TASA that protects us from who knows what and have our best interests in mind.

    Kind Regards

    Charles

    Hi all

Just an update, all the fry and parents are doing good. The BFD HM x PW HM fry are growing fast, at this rate I'll post some pics in about 3 weeks time. The BFD HM x SRGD HM fry are growing fast as well, you can now actually see them all without getting a headache from concentrating to see them. lol. The CT fry are eating well and is taking BBS readilly now and it's a big spawn. Sorry no pics yet, not worth it right now but soon.

    Have a Betta day!

thanks so much @Charles. The new guys are in and i have a horrible feeling we may have only got it right 1 outa 3. i'll keep an eye on them but ones already bubble nesting *face palm* they also climbed into each other on the way home and theres alot of damage. i suppose its a risk with this specie, but they seem to be settling. i removed the other females and introduced the new ones first in the hopes it would help with territorial behavior i think it helped some but not completely. anyway im home all day tomorrow so will be able to watch them more closely. thanks again, they are beautiful!

My pleasure @windfire. Yes they are fiesty little fish, don't worry, their fins will heal quickly, just keep their water very clean and add some of Tetra General Tonic, it does the job well. Like I said, if we got it wrong, you can swop them out next time you're in Pta. Enjoy your new green Betta's.

jup my metallic male was seriously beaten up when i got him and i used rooibos tea to help with the healing and it really worked wonders for him and looking at his fins and tail today you would never say that he had nearly all his tail missing and most of his anal fin. he's a showy lil bugger now and his anal fin or curtain as my boyfriend calls it is almost longer than his tail. the "girls" seem to be settling down and sorting out which hidey spot belongs to whom. i think once my other plants arrive there'll be more than enough cover. they even trying to intimidate my other girls who are twice their size lol. thanks again and i look forward to seeing the colours of your latest spawn.

    Hey guys and girls

I have recently just join TASA just over a week. Was told about TASA from someone I crossed paths with. I’m also in to betta’s have been for over a year now breeding them for about 6 months mostly veiltails, here in Durban that’s what most pet shops have and with constant visits to different pet shop in Durban I got my hands on 2 pairs crown tails and 2 double tail males looking for 2 double tail females at the moment. Any way that’s me.........

I have being reading almost all post and threads about betta’s on TASA and now I found some people that are crazy about these fish as me.

All off your’ll have a great collection off Betta’s , Charles I really admire your collection

Hope to hear from all of you and hopefully become friends with most of your’ll

Hi @St@tic. Thanks for the compliments about my collection. It took some time and alot of money to get them all. As for the Double tail female's, Pet Stop in Pretoria sells them, ask @Moolis, I'm sure he can assist you. I'm only recently started breeding Double tails due to difficulty in obtaining Double tail female's. Then again there is a method to breeding double tail's otherwise you will have mostly deformed fish due to their genetics. I'm also glad to hear from a fellow betta lover. Hope to get to know you better over time through TASA which is a great site with a wealth of info from its members.

Hi @Rooivlerkie, do you mean mature male and female's? In that case I have 23 mature breeding ready male's and 16 mature breeding ready female's, they are all fin types, CT, HM, DT, D, ST and VT's, this include's the male's as well. Yes the BFD HMM X W HMF fry are beautiful, some have this blue-ish look and some has a yellow-ish look and some have a white-ish look with blue fins. Another 6 weeks and I'll be able to post better pics and then we can see how they are turning out. Better make space quick, current fry jars alone is 202, jars only!! Still hundreds left in various tanks, this is just for info and these fry are not show quality, but stunning colour varieties. I will post some of them later under "Mutations and Oddballs" thread started by @Henie Roux.
