Was these bettas expensive to import?

 

@keith1964, yes for me they were, they go for about R300.00 a piece, (depending on the R/$ exchange rate) male or female. I don't just order one, I do 3 to 5 every 2 - 3 weeks. So yes, for me I'm feeling it but worth it in the long run. You don't get 100% exactly what you see in the pic catalogue from Pet Stop but it's very very close to it, that I can promise you. I don't make promisses very lightly, I take that very seriously.

Do you import directly or must you go through channels via Petshop?

 

@keith1964, I work through Pet Stop. I'm looking into importing my self but this will only take place later in the year, hopefuly by mid July 2012. Importing license is expensive but i have a contact that will help me. Will see by mid July. Pet Stop will courier to you in Capetown, you must just arrange with courrier. Talk to Shawn At Pet Stop, he will assist you. Tell him I sent you.

The "Dragon" fry are doing great! So are the VT's. Thanks for asking. One of these days I will be able to post pics of the dragon fry as the grow fast. Hopefully within the next two weeks I'll be getting a couple of Double Tail females... eagerly awaiting those females. Previous DT spawn came out all single tail's, beautiful colours but single tail...sad, and there is about 400 of them. Going to breed DT to DT and see what happens...

 

And how is your black half moons doing?
Are they going to spawn again?

 

The black HM spawn was a failure. Only 4 survived so I added them with the dragon fry and there is no dead fry so they at least survived. I will be pairing my black HM female with a metalic silver/copper HM male in about 2-3 weeks time and then I will match the white HM male & female as well. I will be going on a short vacation for about 4 days at the end of March so I have to time my breeding right so the fry will eat vacation feeding blocks, found some that works great. So for now its only the dragon fry, vt fry and ct fry (still in process...lol). But its all good, gives the others time to condition properly.

Update - No CT spawn yet...sad. Blue Fire Dragon HM male spawned to my knew Red Gold Dragon HM female, fry expected on 01 March 2012, looks like about an odd 50 or so fry will be born. Will keep you updated on this spawn.

The Blue Fire Dragon HM male X Super Red Gold Dragon HM female fry was born this morning. There are lots of them. Still no CT spawn yet, for some reason that escapes me.... my CT males are not building nest's... I'm on the 3rd male now and still no nest no nothing. If they don't spawn by this Sunday I will split them up again and only try again at the end of March 2012. Regards. Charles
