    My thought on this would be to fill the unit with filter floss as the mechanical filtration and use the canister for biological only. Would that work???

    Potentially you could extend periods between cleaning the canister and do regular cleaning of the pre filter.

    Add some Biohome Ultimate to the canister, I read it's great for boosting anaerobic bacteria growth.

    Supplier lists it @ R459/Kg, picking some up later today for special @ R300/Kg.

    I got the HOB version a while back and have been using it on my guppy tank for 6 months now and it works great. Water is crystal clear.
