lol glad you not, its an awesome tank. just one question.. these rocks, how heavy can you go without damaging/breaking the bottom glass? i am looking at adding rock to my 700L tank but a bit worried i might damage it..
    thanx

My tank has a solid piece of wood that it sits on as well as double base ie 2 full sheets of glass 20mm thick total and I must have at least 150kg of rock spread over the entire bottom of the tank , no problems that I have experienced , in fact all my previous tanks I have had loaded with rocks with no problems . I think with proper support under the tank they are frikken strong .

@Ammar - There was a post somewhere where SloMo.00. or Ryno posted a utube video of a guy loading rocks into his tank (looked for the thread but can't find it). You will be amazed how much rock you can add. You already have 700kg (density of water is 1000kg/m3 of water).

Some useless information but: Depending on the rock type you could probably use 1500 -5500kg/m3. So if you filled your 0.7m3 tank with rock it would equate to 1050 - 3850kg. :alberteinstein:

thank you @MarcHawke rock looks amazing in a tank, why would one go for a 3d background made of polystyrene if that's the case? couldn't one build a proper rock background the height of the tank? maybe use silicone to keep the rocks together...

I'm not really sure to be honest. I suppose the thought of "glueing" an entire background out of rock is a bit daunting plus the base of the rock pile would need to be wider than the top to counter the weight of the structure which ultimately means less tank space meaning less water. Anybody got a reason on this?

What an amazing fish. I had two of them a very long time ago and they were the most responsive and interactive fish I have ever kept. I was heartbroken when they eventually left for the big blue.
