@Michael11 for this example i have used supawood as using real wood gets extremely expensive and i wont really get the smooth finish that i was looking for and after much thought for the 3ft as it stands i would like R4500, what do you think on the price side???

That is really nice and i can only imagine the effort put into it and i know its hard to put a price on your hearts work but that might be a bit much(for me at least)eish and i have a 3 foot in desperate need of such a nice cabinet.

@Oscarfreak then what would you pay? because every part is handmade and cut exactly, i don't have production line just two people putting it together, i am just doing some research to see it it will be worth my time to make these on the weekend so that is why i ask what you guys would pay for it, also note that the price is with the tank and lighting, plug points timer, so if you want just a cabinet it will obviously be cheaper, so what would people at Tasa pay for something like this? your input is greatly appreciated :)

@Oscarfreak, not trying to come across as a ass but 1500 is no where near the cost of materials. But your input is greatly appreciated,

@rednox alright sounds about right, and the tank does not have sliders, as the inside of the top has been water proofed properly i have tested the method for over a year on my 6mm plywood top it hasn't bent or warped or or disfigured in anyway, i personally don't like sliders, but i really appreciate all you guys input so far been a great learning experience.

Say what you will that looks like an awesome piece of work bru! You should be proud, its well thought out and planned. It LOOKS, because I havent personally seen it, like quality work. I paid R2700 for my 4ft stand only and I have learnt as the afrikaans saying goes " goedkoop is deurkoop (spelling?)" So well done Nirvashen. Do you take ebucks:D

Goedkoop koop, is duur koop / penny wise and pound foolish, yah that's definitely true.

Nirvashen maybe you should look at what 3ft finished setups goes for in LPS, with a canopy cabinet and all the other stuff you have included, then you now how much people will be willing to pay and you can then make your'e own price with that in mind.

@Nirvashen The product looks good! I like complete and rounded off systems and many people are willing to pay the price for it. I would suggest you showcase this one in a good LFS in JHB as well as Pretoria for say two weeks each. That way prospective byers can go have a look, make suggestions, help with changes etc. It will be fantastic research on exactly what people want and what they are willing to pay for it. If I look at the responses you got from this post there will be a hundred people who would want to have a closer look! I think you may find you have a huge potential market if you can come in at the right price. (Keep in mind a similar Juwel system with filter, heater, lights and filter media sells for between R5500 and R6000 depending where you buy, so it has to be competitive...)

Finish is extremely important to me and will probably be to most people (again, on a Juwel e.g. system you cannot fault the finish) and the only way I will buy it is if I am satisfied with it.

Another idea is to offer flexibility in design, not a lot to start off with off course but all people have their preferences. Here you can have a big advantage over plug and play systems.

Wishing you all the best with your new venture.

    Regards
    Francois
