    @eros111

    Actually after it happened, I thought of doing exactly as you said with the fibreglass etc.
    Problem is, that when the water forced it up and against the top brace of my tank, it damaged the concrete and took a few chuncks out the background too.

    I decided to go the rock route for now, and possibly at a later stage re-attempt a background when I have the motivation to do one again......I'll see how this new direction pans out when I'm finished scaping (maybe a few more rocks, java fern) and hopefully the algae growth thats starting gives the rocks the natural colour I want.
    Thanks for your input though dude, its appreciated.

    Mugsy - that was a fine piece of DIY 3D! Now a RIP DIY 3D.

    I am inclined to side with the notion of removing much (if not most) of the styrofoam, even if not also adding the fiberglass. Perhaps if 50% of the foam was scooped out, it may have been enough to lessen the "urgency to float", yet retain sturdiness. And if the base could have been well anchored with silicon and weights (e.g. rocks on the inside)...

    Aaaanyway - some lessons learned - thanks for keeping your audience (us) captivated throughout - and gratz on a damn fine attempt!

    For sure, in hindsight there are definitely areas I could have done things differently.....you live and you learn I guess.
    Thanks for the comps.
