    happy ending... yaaay

I too run a business which supplies product and services to the public. We rely heavily on our couriers, 99% of the time all is well, that 1% though can cause such problems. We all know S*** happens, just feel for Gary and also super happy to see this dealt with so maturely.

Well I am sad to report that I remain unimpressed and disappointed....once again my parcel (with livestock in) was collected from Pretoria, driven past Brits to Rustenburg depot, slept over there, driven to Brits the next day in the midst of a heatwave, driven around Brits for who knows how long? I eventually (around 15:30) tracked down the driver (not the driver/tel no on the courrier website), found him and took my parcle home to find 2 dead and 2 live blue rams, 8 dead and 2 live green corys, 1 dead and 3 live yellow fin hillstream loaches.........not exactly what I ordered!

I am sorry but surely if you say "we ship to anywhere in SA" you'r responsibility does not end with "we gave the parcel to the courier" ....and now it is out of our hands?

I received a parcel from Jack stone (FROM CAPE TOWN) last week also in the midst of a heat wave, and my fish ALL arrived safe and sound on time and I knew EXACTLY when and where they were to be collected!

    SO SO SO disappointed!

Jeez dude.. That really IS bad news. Are there even couriers available that make a direct, one day trip out your way? I thought outlying areas are always 48 hours?

Sorry, I didn't know that.. My geography sucks. Surely it would be easier to just collect the fish then @GaryG? Although I can't imagine why the courier service is that poor?

I wouldn't trust a courier service with fish at all. If I am going to get specialised species I would rather drive the distance and make sure I get good quality stock and that they are transported with as little trauma as possible.

Yea Brits - Pta north is about 65 km so not too far, problem is work is crazy busy still (last 5 months now) and since last week I am at work from 1 am till 3 pm, 7 days a week now, so even if it is only a two hour round trip after witch the fish need to be aclimatized etc etc, I still have to get some sleep! If there is a service that can save me some time and maybe a few bucks (as I might be tempted to start looking at what other fish etc I may need:blushing: while walking around in store)...Livestock is shipped much further on a daily basis, all over the world. As I said earlier I received fish from @Jack Stone (from Cape Town via air freight) early last week and his service was excellent, he checked the weather daily and let me know exactly when and where to collect my parcel....... I may just be jinxed.

If you provide a service through a courier, they need to understand your needs!

I will not be doing this again as I cannot bear to think what those poor fish went through, I don't want my money back, i definitely don't want the fish replaced, but I will not be supporting these people again either, (even though I have found them to be one of the better fish shops around) I will be spending my lousy R300 Per month fish allowance somewhere else - spiting my face by cutting off my nose - That's how the saying goes?

    @GaryG,
    l feel for your frustration.

over here, I have also had mixed results with shipped fish.
once had a box of dead angel youngsters arrive.
but a positive experience was my Discus were sent to me by overnight, and they all arrived ok

when I got my lungfish, I decided that I would rather drive the 350km or so round trip to go and get it.
the fish itself was very expensive, and also a one off. So didn't want to take the chance

Regardless of everyone's perception of how a business should be run, the couriers aren't livestock shipping specialists and such it should be no surprise that you go through this.

Brits also isn't a main centre as far as I'm aware.

I feel your pain but I wouldn't have taken the risk a second time. Couriers always stuff up. It's the way things are
