Hmmm...that's way too close to be safe on the budget!

I've got Sterbai, Ottos and a Hilstream Loach together in one tank, doing great. I had Cory with my Pleco in another tank but found him sucking on one of them one day...that didn't leave me feeling very comfortable, but no harm was done. I did however split them and my Pleco is still sulking!

The other reason I would not recommend a pleco - their digestive systems create a lot of waste. And I do mean a LOT!

Lots of people argue that you don't have to count bottom feeders and plecos as stock, but I reckon if it takes up space and creates waste it should be counted. I do tend to overstock a bit but I'm in the fortunate position of working from home and being able to do daily water changes if needed.

Do you have 4 flying foxes and the sae in the same tank?

I bought 2 small flying foxes for my 1m tank waaay back when, and they were great buddies at first, but then when they started to mature the one turned on the other and bullied him until he just kept hiding.
I put the shy one in a seperate tank and he also became aggresive to other fish, if they would dare it too close to his cave.
They don't bother most fish, but fish that has a similar body shape as them gets chased when their in their line of sight
