@azurekoi, just because you have access to all the good stuff first doesn't mean you have to boast about it :p.
Your fish are stunning dude and I like the tank layout, well done.

Amazing Sewelias you got there matey and the B.Striata are going to be a great touch for your tank.
    Two questions though.
    1) Is that a white colour strain? Ive mostly only seen Sewelias with lots of yellow.
    2) When will we see a video of this tank? You need to do this high motion tank justice!

Loving this tank, if I had to start all over with aquariums it would have been something like what you have going for sure!

@jedigenie... yup - the 4 true S.lineolata I have are 3 distinct colours ---> 1 white,2 yellows and a chocolate brown...Seen shades of yellow and brownin pics from the net before, but never a white one...

    No video,as I'm an technological idiot..lol

    They're looking great!
Any idea how you're going to promote algae othe than higher lighting?
Perhaps get some more smooth rocks and keep them in a tank outside and just swap them around so you have a constant supply of algae-covered rocks.

Got some rocks in a bucket in the garden that is geting nice and green already....just dont lke the idea of screwing with th scape evry time to swop rocks, but will go that route if they eat me outa house and home..lol

What about a panel of glass that you can put in the front or back of the tank and just swap out as needed? No need to mess with the scape :)

Hmmnn - maybe, but carrying slippery panes of algae covered glass round somehow fills me with dread... Think I will go find a bunch of rocks that are same shape/size and just swap them around from time to time - least impact on the look of the scape....

If you drill the glass and put hooks in you could carry the panes by the hooks, and then you'll also be able to hook them onto the back glass of the tank for instance

So another week has gone by and he river keeps on flowing...lol - Went plant shopping last weekend with @Newby and @poro and found some pretty nifty stuff... Some Aponogeton undulata and a variegated Anubias barteri that made my heart skip a beat when I saw it... Also recieved a young Blyxa japonica as a gift that looks perfect in the foreground... Now if it will just grow faster!(Thanx WBS!!!) - Also taken the first clippings of my Rotalla rotundifolia and replanted those - not long now and I can replace the back wall of Vallis with them(love the pinky/coppery colour of them) and the lone little Rotalla sp. nanjensjan that has finally taken...

With recieving so many plants from different sources in the past two months - yup,you guesed it - PEST snails...a veritable army of the little suckers! So,upon receiving a new batch of Botia striata today,2 just stood out due to their unusual patterns - they came home with me tonight(will increase the shoal size to round 5 as I find other strangely marked specimens) and I might be fooling myself, but the snails allready seem less...lol! I can recomend Zebra loaches to anybody with a community tank. They dont grow overly large...are excellent snail killers, peacefull and will amuse you for hours with their antics... Mine already seem to join in to the "loachy dance" that the Squirrel loaches get up too...

Hit me like a ton of bricks the other day that all the fish species in here are all Asian...Was thinking of adding a pair of Nannochromis parrilus as a finishing touch, but now not so sure what these little Dwarf cichlids will do to my beloved loaches when they get down to doing the dirty and raising their crew.... Hmmn.....might have to rethink this....Getting pretty close to max stocking lvl anyways...

Some pics to follow soon - too tired to go haul the camera out now...

Pics please! I follow this tank blog very keenly and the pictures just do it for me! :)

Also, I rate you just keep it Asian - somewhat biotope-ish? Just IMO.

Keep up the good work and keep us updated! :)

lol Tim - promise some pics tomorrow... tank is actualy VERY biotope-ish - only the Vallis(going anyway as as soon as I have enough Rotalla) and Aponogeton aint Asian....rest all is..
Allthought the Nanochromis has been on my long time list, think that I might just resist them... :( Dificult though....

So what's next? Scaling this up to a 6ft tank? That way you could host nice big groups of loaches and you'd have space for all your clippings to go!
