Going to miss this tank as I'm sure many others will as well. It's always been so interesting seeing how everything not only gets along with each other, but thrives in there.
We need to get together and throw ideas around. I've thrown the concrete slab for the outdoor paludarium, modified the tank and finished the welding on the aluminium stand. Can't wait to see where you're going with your new tank.

Just don't worry about missing the algae jungle as it was a while ago... I got the new version of it.

That's cool about the sponge filters. You say one of them is enough for 80l? Is this only at the high rate you run it at? Can one of those be enough for a slower, "normal" flow rate tank?

@Razer2007... Sponge filter run by normal air pump - got nothing to do witht the vibration pump making the flow. Even at this overstocked state,my water parameters allways good,so yes - it does run an 80l tank...and rather good as well.

Was having a little nap on the couch late Friday afternoon, when woken up by a huge BANG!!! Looked around, couldn't find the source and didnt think much more of it...

Yesterday morning when feeding the fish,I noticed a huge crack running through the Rhodesian Teak Desk the river tank stands on.... Poked and prodded it a bit but whole thing still seems stable.... guess this puts paid to putting the bigger tank up though... if a n 80 l tank does this...i dont want to think what a 185l will do to that desk... Oh well...

Since I am now sort of stuck with the smaller tank due to the desk it is on cracking.... I decided to just pimp the tank with some more stem plants. Went through to Dorry Pets today and got some Ludwigia repens ... btw Nice meeting and chatting to you @ivan...
Then @Barry.M popped round bearing gifts.... lots of them...he,he - thanks a stack dude!!! So the river tank is now a veritable JUNGLE...
I'm loving the Autumn colours my Willow Hygrophila has taken on since swopping out a 10 000k bulb for a 4000k bulb...nicely accentuated by the red/orange of the Ludwigia....

    DSCF5950.JPGDSCF5952.JPG

Here's a shot or two of the introduction of the 3 new Stiphodon Gobie to the tank.... Long thought that the lone female I had was a S.atropurpereus....so nice to confirm that she is one indeed - the moment she noticed the new males in the tank....she just HAD to go flirt...

    DSCF5944.JPGDSCF5946.JPG

What's up next for the river tank? lol - no idea...defo no more fish.... but maybe I'll be looking at working on the planting a bit more... Maybe bringing the Bamboo back - I'm sort of beginning to miss it on the rocky right hand side....

Always a pleasure azurekoi, I really dig this river tank of yours.
Thanx a million for the Marsilea hirsuta, I've done the "cut off inverted coke bottle" thing until it gets big enough to put into a small tank set up for immersed growth. It's amazing how excited we become over a small plant, I've been looking for this for ages...
Trish is surprised that I haven't taken it to bed with me! Hehe... I'm also going to have to watch where I place it, not only for the temp! But with the Husky and our new Labrador pup, Just about anything that can be chewable, will be.

Bout time for another update (Pics later tonight)... Was lucky enough to score some Ludwigia peruensis from one of the exhibitors at the expo.... Loving the reds... The tank has really gone BOS now - finally getting to look the way I had envisaged.... the Egeria najas I got from Barry.M has by now curled it's way everywhere - reminds me of lianas in a jungle.......

My Aponogeton undulata has also suddenly decided to pop back into existence after a looooong dormant period - was missing it's big surface hugging leaves...
Recieving another pair of Hypseleotris cyprinoides from Vis this weekend - hoping that now having 2 males will encourage them to bring on their spectacular breeding colours as the compete for the attention of the girls...he,he

Also receiving a CO2 regulator this weekend..... considering adding CO2 to this tank now... must be mad - plants are growing like crazy allready...lol

@johan008 ... Freshwater mate - all 4 species of Goby in my tank is pure freshwater...although the Hypseleotris can handle full marine ... the Stipho's and Sichy's gobies not at all... Soft water species.

Ideal tank mates would be fish like you see in this tank - anything that like's fast flow... A year ago they where harder than hens teeth to find - Vis and myself as long time fans of this Genus scoured many shops to find them, but recently a few shops has started to stock them - guess my whingeing and moaning to certain importers/suppliers has started to pay off...lol

BTW - for those of you that is wondering: the Ludwigia peruensis is the shorter, very red plant on the foreground left... got some Ludwigia repens growing behind it - the redder one was from Dorry Pets and then there is also a greener, round leaf version od L.repens growing in a C curve to the left of them that I got from tracyp. Midground is a single stem of Ludwigia brevipes/arcuata - not sure which, will know once it gets going in my emersed grow out setup,L.arcuata has hairy stems and L.brevipes not - will see how this does in current position, gets the full brunt of the flow pump where it currently is curentl.

Must say,not having kept Ludwigia species for many years,I have forgotten how nice they are...

    Looking good Shawn.

I have a small stem of Reineckii Lilacina if you want. Also grows a nice red in my temp stiphodon tank.

Simple sand and 13hours of light.
