This one is filling out nicely, I think! Mosses need another trim

The Boys tank (male guppies and Endlers) constantly needs a trim.

    They’re like hyperactive puppies :D

I have an algae issue in this one which I fear might be clado

Manually removed as much as possible and luckily seems to respond to excel spot treatment then eaten by the snails

Still have that damn clado problem in this tank, which is why I’m not giving away corkscrew Val at the moment. Not a great gift to give

@TheGrissom I’m at the point where I’m going to get rabbit snails when we’re back from October holidays.

You should. I love mine, they are interesting and useful. They annihilated the clado on my parva, I was struggling for years with it, every time I thought i had won a few months later it was back. Since I have had rabbit snails (about 2 years now) havent seen clado at all.

Got 3 rabbit snails today to see what they can do with the clado situation. A couple of close ups to track their cleaning (this is after yet another manual removal yesterday)

Good going. By end of the year there will be no more clado. I noticed how easily the clado pulled off of the plants after 2 weeks.

I soaked the bolbitis and stems in a strong excel solution overnight, then picked them over removing affected leaves. Did another manual clado removal (yes I’d like to think it’s pulling away easier since the arrival of the rabbit snails). Siphon of the carpet & substrate (again I think the clado is ‘looser’).

    Would be worth a try!
PS I upped the temp and water hardness before I got them - won’t last in soft water

My water is weirdly hard, but acidic. It's really hard to understand

Real time rescape - letting the old HOB run with filter floss.

Have eventually made the tough call to remove the corkscrew Val- tank is too shallow for it.

So a container of corkscrew Val up for grabs as freebie BUT note that this is the tank with the clado issue. Although I don’t see visible clado on the Val anymore it might be dormant.

Unfortunately found 2 empty rabbit snail shells. No 3 is still active. They definitely made a big difference.

Things are looking very bleak and sad at the moment, but much cleaner. Still some clado on the wood, some mixed up with the mosses. Thinking I’ll pull the hardscape and replace with other pieces I’ve nuked and soaked already.

Although it’s not obvious atm there’s a lot of bolbitis at the back. Trimmed / cleaned them down heavily and attached to pebbles. Some are bare rhizomes. Might temporarily add some stems to fill in but eventually want it as low maintenance as possible.

Will also add more foreground plants once I think I’ve won the clado.
