Last night as I switched off the tank lights I noticed the male apisto with half a khuli loach hanging out of its
mouth. Was sad for the poor khuli, really didn’t see this predation coming.
This morning the khuli (clearly dead) was still coming out of the apisto’s mouth, with the latter now in distress. I netted it and tried to pull the khuli out but it broke off. I don’t think the apisto is going to make it unfortunately. Suspect the khuli’s hooks got stuck.

I really didn't know they would do that.

Possible to sedate him and remove the rest? Or is it too late

I used to target feed the lungfish Massivore pellets with tweezers. One of the chocolate cichlids youngsters managed to grab the pellet, but it was too big for him to swallow. Was stuck in its throat. Swam around with its mouth gaping for about 12 hours. It must have softened, and he either swallowed it or spat it out. But he was fine thereafter.

Had so many issues with the Aquaclear HOB not consistently restarting after load shedding. Replaced it with a Seachem Tidal on Friday- works like a charm! Definitely a big fan now.

Did a big trim about a week ago, also removing tons of susswassertang.
Added a peace lily on the right and zyngonium cutting on the left.
