So this weekend is catch all fish and empty tank weekend.. I managed to source the leek and its more like a slow oozing of water than a leak.. im going to add another piece of glass to the bottom of the tank and use as many tubes of silicone as it takes to join them together. I will also be adding a layer of silicone to the entire bottom, outer edge of the tank. This wont be pretty so I will also be making up a wooden frame about 50mm high to cover the bottom of the tank all the way round. Worst bit is im going to have to uproot ALL of my planting, just hope I can get it all back in the way it was initially set up.

Hopefully I wont have many if any fatalities while my fishies holiday in their temporary home. Will add pics as its done.

    Wish me luck :S

    good luck @GregM
dont know if its normal but i found that if you keep fish and plants in a temp tank together the fish do a lot of damage to your plants
so i just keep the plants i a large bucket that all so helps to retain a lot of your original water
    just a thought

Goodluck. Are you sure it's no water from the lid or so?

I'm glad to hear your repairs ran smoothly without a hitch @GregM so are you just going to fill it up with water to check the leak for you start building it up ?

I'm afraid I have the patience of an ant, the work is done, the tank is full, the plants are in.... even the fish are in.

I found some shocking work in the tank in terms of sealant etc so that's been sorted, cut out and replaced various bits of silicone. The tank has been 99% full for a fair amount of time and everything seems ok.

Im relieved but will monitor it going forward.

few more, tried to do this with the gravel in but ended up removing the bulk of the gravel too which really messed up the layering I had put in originally, but it looks pretty natural now. Replanting took quite a while but because its now against a wall I could drop the 360 degree layout and plant more traditionally (short to tall)

The substrate has also been laid out taller to the rear.

    Now just wait for clarity....

last few once replanted, this has cleared up since these were taken. Will post a few more tonight when hopefully it should be ready to complete (and not be leaking ofc)

Thankfully it seems I had only one fatality in the move, one of my oldest fish, a 3 year old White Cloud. This was his fourth move and he's had a good innings.. RIP

    updates

    Few new additions...

I thought id dabble in a little DIY CO2 and despite my reservations it does seem to be making a difference..

Apart from that I managed to find another Leaf fish and digressing from my African theme, a Butterfly Pleco (couldn't resist).

My Butterfly fish are coming this week, ill then probably offload the gouramis.

Any opinions on Kribs, ive never kept them before but the would work with the African theme.

    Looking forward to any ideas..

    Greg
