Thanks alot @Razer2007 , i am very happy with the way my plants are looking, the new ones have only been there since last Sunday, but they have not lost color or leaves as of yet (touch wood).
Ah yes the Cyano, i meant to mention it in the previous post, it has been there for a while now, it grows a bit, then shrinks down to almost nothing, then comes back again. I believe this is due to the time when i neglected the tank. Roughly 3 months ago did i start looking after it properly again.. :(

I am doing weekly water changes. But one thing i noticed was my flow was almost stagnent (iron collecting on my filter impeller), which allowed debris to sit and rot at the bottom of the tank. I truly regret not noticing this earlier!

I have already ordered a new impeller to improve the filter rating again. If this is not enough i will order a pump from my LFS. Cant think of the name now. Eish! lol...

    Thanks for the comment!

    Cheers

I couldn't manage to get rid of my cyano without going the eurythromycin route. I think it is because the flow in my tank is very slow at the bottom.

ah yes. the name of the pump is the SEIO prop 320. i have seen this in a tank smaller than mine and not cause much disturbance for the fish or plants, so it will fit perfectly in my tank.

Hey guys and gals, as said earlier in the thread, my angels were coming up for another batch of eggs, and they have not let me down. This time i have a good feeling about the batch. They are extremely aggressive this time round! (a little worried for my other angels, poor things). I dont know if i am wrong, but lets hope for the best. I am going to go get some egg crate tomorrow(if i can get) to split the tank down the middle. hopefully, this will allow them to concentrate more on the eggs than the other fish.

I really need to get that other tank of mine!

    Congratt's, nice tank.

Where did you find the Giesemann's and what did you pay for them?

    @Good_Times thanks alot..
The Giesemanns bulbs i got from a LFS here by me, some might know about Die Visdam
Cash wise i cannot remember, but they we roughly 300 a bulb (average as some were a more pricey than others). But the price is worth it as the bulbs last for up to 2 years!
Right now these bulbs are working so well, i have already ordered one half of the 4 bulbs i will be putting above me new tank i will be building in a few weeks time...

Thanx alot, I actually remembered driving past a place with the name visdam & exotic pets while visiting family in vanderbijl, it was somewhere near gideon scheepers blvd.

Anyway, I really like those light's, I looked up their spd chart and their wavelength matches perfectly with photosynthesis, whilst also giving a spike in the middle for the visual, instead of the ugly purple of bulbs like growlux.

Do they come only in T5?

@Good_Times the shop is located in vereeniging town, on the corner of mario milani and golf road.
Yeah, these lights are made specifically for planted tanks, when i ordered my odyssea light unit, i asked them to swop out the standard lights for the plant suited ones, and this is what they sent me. HAHA. my pocket wasnt too happy, but me and my tank were!!

I believe that they are T5 only. I could be wrong though...

Hi everyone, so i have some good news this afternoon.

My third batch of eggs are fertile! Only 2 of the 50 or so eggs have turned solid white, and the rest are looking healthier than ever.
So i went and bought a small 30l aquarium, air-pump, heater and airstone, set it all up, and put water from the main tank to this one.

So i am hoping for the best as this pair of angels could make some nice babies!!

    Cheers for now...

    Hi everyone.

This is just a small update.

The eggs didnt hatch (my fault) but i am certain that we are getting closer to the eggs hatching.

I got 2 clown loaches as the snails in my tank just erupted in numbers, and were getting out of control. Hopefully the 2 of them do their job.

Here are some pics of my tank as of today. The plants seem to be doing well, lots of new shoots, stems growing. Very happy at the moment (except for the amount of Black Beard Algae on my anubia)

Full tank shot. These are quick photos, didnt have time to clean the algae off the front

Can somebody please give me the name of this plant in this picture, the one directly behind the angel... thanks

This guy is in so many of my photos, i thought i would give him one chance at being in the picture alone...

I dont know how many of you can see this, but between the anubia, and the plant in the first pic of this post, there are a few arrow shaped leaves growing.
This is a lily type plant (not sure of name) but it was a bulb that i took from the work tank, as the work tank doesnt have sufficient light for this plant.
2 weeks after planting, and i am happy to see these few leaves sticking out.. :top:

This is my favorite shot of my tank right now..

Hope you guys enjoyed the pics.

Will update in a week or so..

Looking very nice. I like the tank.

That plant in the last pic looks like a Willow Hygro to me.

The spade leaved plant might be Anubias Gracilis. it look very similar except, the color is very pale. If it is. they grow best above water.
