Aaand I got wrigglers today. Would it be best to leave them in the tank, or to put them in their own bare bottom tank?
they are to tiny and will die very easily if you move them. the parents is supposed to protect them. you will lose less like that IMO. its not easy to raise them in a community tank. but i cant keep such you fry alive in a small tank, i struggle with the water quality, wait and see what some of the peeps say with more experience in breeding them.
Thanks. It's the first time I am actually trying to hatch them. After how long does the fry go free-swimming?
4 or 5 days after hatching. So I still have some time before I need to feed them. I think I'll leave them in the tank. Let's see how good the parents can protect them.
They moved all the wrigglers onto my CO2 pipe next to the glass. There's about 70 (estimate) now. Just a pic of a little bunch.
It is fascinating! It's so cute how the wiggle the whole time. I is really amazing. I'm just hoping that I can somehow get to a nice pet shop to buy Brine Shrimp eggs before Sunday/Monday.
Saw some at Jungle Aquatics today as well. Also 'Ocean Nutrition' brand at about the same price as petstop.
Looking good! I also bred angels last year! Very interesting to see how they grow from eggs to eventually the shape of an angelfish.:smile1:
Yes!! But as soon as mine went free swimming my male started defending the babies from the female and they started fighting. I then moved the male out and left only the female with them
