I wanted to continue moving some plants around in this tank, but had to wait very long the previous time for the water to clear. The unique substrate means that after several yeas of use, you just look at it and it is dust all over the place.

So I decided to bring-out the big guns - this is a hydor R10, adding batting and it is probably the best water polisher I have ever used. I have used HOB's - had issue with the batting and cascade intrnal's etc and the all had the same floor works lekker till you move it and it dumps all the stuff you collected back into the tanks. Not the hydor - it is like a mini canister in the tank - once something goes in you only get it out when you dismantle it.
    [IMG] YP has stock locally,

Internal Power Filter, Filters, Technical Products – HYDOR components for aquariums

Added into the tank and did the moving ..

Pretty sure it will get allot more dusty before it clears, but that can only be a good thing.

agggrrrr - lights go out and guppies get stupid, 5 min after lights out ... I decided to clean the filter ;-)

    lost min of 6 guppies.

Rest seem to be doing fine back in the tank.

Got 4 pots of Anubias - loads of plants for the 4 pots, and they travelled well.

Thanks Lindy, think you are talking about the heater.

    4ftclear.jpg

Might be time to trim these a bit ... not sure now about removing the heater, just yet on this tank.

    Water top-up is needed ...

got some algae ... thinking of upping the kno3 on the tank - truth is have not dosed pure kno3 for a while, so I suspect an imbalance being the issue.

Very nice. I'm surprised that the SAE doesn't sort the little algae that you have?

Did a quick bit of lfs crawling this afternoon ... found a nice rock for R40 ... pity they did not have 2.

While trimming some of 4ft -clear, my mind started to wonder what if I ... ag nou ja boet.

Again waiting for water to clear.

Actually really like the rock - I know it is bad form to do it dead centre - rule of 3'rds and all that or that spiral law thing ... still it is done.

    Thanks Tanked72 ...

I think I have spend enough time and energy to figure-out not to force plants to grow at a high maintenance expense, truthfully this is probably my best planted tank year - well since I started. Not only do we have access to great plants but for the first time I can plant or scape a tank with loads of plants being supplied from my other tanks. This makes a huge difference - I have a few that I have not updated or re-scaped yet that are typical of the past - little plants to start with and the tank goes south very fast on them and I loose interest. MTS has saved me in this hobby - yeah sure little ADHD with a healthy dose of addiction means some years are better than others.

Will try and keep an eye open for a few more rocks, something special that I can put on the right of the centre one between the needle fern and the bolbitis.

Thanks Tanked72 .... I did find an almost suitable rock for R5 at a nursery .. so that has been soaking etc moved it into the tank with a bit of a trim and some planting. Also added root tabs this evening.
