Rather like the look of the humin before the filters kick in.

Pressurized CO2 is supposed to be simple - no maintenance .. well when two diffusers clog up in one day ... time to go back to what worked in the past.

My propagation tank has always had this spiral ladder - now I know many think ladders are inefficient, I would tend to disagree having used both.

I can see the CO2 dissolving on the way up the ladder, I can put the excess (if you have depending on the bpm) into a flow pump or something.

    jbl-taifun - 02.jpg

no maintenance - zero, and it will work with DIY.

I found some kit in a box I imported way back ... I had enough bits to replace the two diffuser.

    taifun-replaces-ceramic.jpg

So now 4ft-clear is sporting one of these.

If only JBL was locally available.

I am very happy with the growth of the glosso, added a heater and set it to 20 degrees - still need to improve on the fishroom's insulation.

CO2 reactor is doing a good job, way better than those disc things - I am looking into something called false gas - impurities in our CO2, that we think needs to be dissolved but actually letting them bubble off is better.

    4ft-clear-25.jpg

The 3 Otocinclus have done a good job with the guppies to move durst and algae.

Spotted some BGB - added the chemiclear, no more BGB.

Pleased I am with the growth in this tank - considering it is running 1 4ft and 1 3ft opple cheap cheap T5's 28 + 21 W = 49W and no really algae issues other than some BGB I dosed chimeclean on a week ago.
    4ft-clear-26.jpg

I would not consider this a high tech tank even if I am running CO2

CO2 in the reactor is LOW +-20bpm, no clue on the ph, nitrates, kh or CO2 levels since nothing get measure here - not even the temp (did add a 250W set to 19 degrees).

Did a quick trim yesterday - consider moving the CO2 reactor and heater to the right, now that I no longer use the spray bar.

yeah ... been staring at this for a while (like I have nothing better to do at 01:00 ... ) maybe extend the return to push via the front then mount heater and CO2 on the right hand panel under the extended return line.

I think the reactor is less of a bother since I like to watch the bubbles dissolve, and the heater is in a lower flow area so it is on less but enough for the fish to huddle for some heat if needed. Should I move either to the right I will have neither of these benefits but it might look more esthetically pleasing.

I think I will just leave it as is for now - see how the plants grow in - maybe extend the return so long.
