    @Wyvren,

    Have you considered doing a DIY to upgrade the lights. You can easily then run 2x 23watt cfl.

    Here is an example. Also the JeboR338

    I had three carpets going in this tank with these lights: UG, dwarf hair grass & Lilaeopsis brasiliensis‎ together with some Co2. :bigsmile:

    Ok ne! That is what I want! I will see if I can manage to convince someone in the family to do it for me. Can you tell me what I will need?

    @Ryno

    Can I tell you the secret?

    No fiddling and no faffing as well as patience. It takes months to get it to this. But weirdly enough this tank is my easiest one to maintain. Im doing 1 water change every two weeks of 30% and add in ferts and excel when I remember....

    Nope you have to tell yourself leave it be for at least a month. No moving of plants, no trimming nothing. . .

    You only start doing those things once you get a bit of growth . . . .

    Pick n Pay sells the bayonet fittings in the same isle than the cfl tubes. Also you will need some electrical wire/rip cord and a plug of course.

    I could have posted some photos of my previous scapes of this tank, but dont think the mods will like it too much due to the live stock in the tank.

    LOL @gdt78 = No worries, I will try to get my brother to redo the lid for me. I have to check if we can do this to my smaller R310 as well. Especially since I cant find proper lights for these tanks.

    For your JeboR310 you can start with 1x 23watt cfl. I found some with a 6500 kelvin rating at spar.

    All you need for the cfl light is the bayonet fitting. You get them also in plastic. Similar to the ones a desk lamp uses. I'll post a photo once I can find one.

    Snap!

    Don't the light fittings get very wet and then blow?

    Havent fiddled with this tank to much - ok I lied I changed the background plants and also added the lillies that @Khalid sent me. If anyone in the CPT area wants one of these I have 3 to spare for now and if they do well will have more soon
