40L Guppie/Female Betta tank

Hehehe, its taken time and patience and playing with various plants to find the right combination that works for me. Especially since its a VERY low tech tank.

Hehe thanks, Im just happy I can finally keep plants alive! (I have a black thumb when it comes to gardening - Im not even allowed to help repot things at my mums place anymore since I manage to kill them as well )

Hahaha Thanks @tracyp! I keep debating with myself if I should go for a different substrate but then I think noooooooo I just have the tank looking great the way I want it. So I will just keep using the root tabs and the rest of the products. And I have already started saving for another tank - looking to go for a 90L (space wise its the biggest I can go) But Im also fussy I dont want a very tall tank, Im short and I have a fear of heights so no standing on ladders to scape

 

Is that male guppy you have really GREEN???!!!

Heheh As far as I know I dont have a true green one, I have one that shimmers green due to the yellow and blue on his body and I have a turquoise one that also has a green shimmer if the light hits it a certain way.

 

ok... I have a true green female that is why i am asking...

 

Aah ok, nice, I would love to see a pic, since I havent seen any green ones here in the cape as of yet.

Ok quick update on this tank. As soon as I have enough time I will be taking it apart and keeping the girls in a bucket with a heater until I have added the new flourite substrate. (Or ADA which will be even better but that means I need to come in the top 3 )



And just some of the girls (sorry I was struggling to get images of them - the are to fast and I really struggle with my brother's fancy camera )





All of the female betta's I have are growing nicely and have settled in to such an extent that there is no chasing or nipping.

 

Nice looking tank... what plants are on the Back right, and what moss is that?

@Lizid Thanks and the plant I think we decided on Rotala nanjenshun (I had an ID thread going since this is my all time fav plant in the tank since it grows like a weed).
The moss is chrismas moss, struggling a bit tho, I just trimmed it because it did go bush but the fronds where very fine. Im waiting on new lights now.

@BugMan - Thanks She is my favourite as well, I got the others from @Altum and actually stumbled on her at one of my LFS - they had about 20 females but she was the only lemon yellow one. I went home still thinking about getting her, knew my brother was coming for dinner the same eve and sent him to pick her up for me. She has been in QT for about 3 weeks now and I added her on monday. My LFS just started laughing when my brother showed up to get her for me

 

LOL!!! That is what happened to my brother when i sent him to buy blood worms, crickets and a new tarantula the past weekend... Because they know he wont buy anything like that for himself...

 

Oh our one shop knows us so well they get one of the lower staff member to take over at the till and we sit and chat on their couches for at least an hour. Never mind the fact that we show up there at least 2 times a weekend
