Haven't managed yet, but there are about 6 side shoots on the main stem. I'm toying with the idea of cutting them, but I jut can't bring myself to do it, it's just too nice a plant. I'm probably going to tie it to a piece of slate and anchor it down.

    Pics coming soon!!

    That is an option.
Try pile loads of flourite over the roots and then brush it away in a few weeks when it's rooted again

Swords need an iron rich substrate. Gus uses Flourite. A product from Seachem, which is iron rich. He also doses enough nutrients for his plants using the EI method. These nutrients also have iron available in the water column. Then he has water flowing directly onto his Glosso carpet which I believe also helps.

But I'm sure Algae Wizard can elaborate on this method.

I have sucessfully grown Echinodorus quadricostatus in inert pool filter sand with only Dirk's Drops in the water column and fairly low light. (3 x 36W T8 in a 150 x 45 x 45 tank)

They start off slowly, maybe a month or so to settle in. But when they took off there were runners all over. When I did my rescape I moved them to my low light 3ft.

So it can be done. And I must admit when I started with these micro swords I knew nothing, or at least much less than now.

@Gus - your tanks looks great. I love the reds and copper-browns and your Aromatica looks superb!

That Quadro looks more like Sagitaria Subtulata to me.
It's a fairly easy plant to grow.I have it growing in a 50L tank with 22w of light.no ferts, just topups.
Spock rider: do you know which micro sword you have?
Please start a tank thread with all your tank details, equipment, substrate, water parameters, dosing etc
It's a bit hard to comment without any of that info.
    Cheers

also try a little shop on lynnwood road, called Pet a pond, they may have a good price on something you want
(its in one of the shopping clusters off lynnwood, the one with the brazen head irish pub)
animal kingdom has quite a few plants too, and Dolphin's also got quite a nice variety, check his shop subforum
