ok then i might be identifying the wrong fish here as these tetras are not timid at all, and they are very active. i have attached a pic, not sure if they are clear enough please advise...

Yes we are wise....but agreed with the Rummynose Tetras they are fast swimmers but is peacefull, so def no problem there. I drop off allot of Bettas @ my LPS and red tetras is also not a problem. So none of those mentioned should be a problem. IMO tiger barbs in a school is allot more agresive then the Red eye tetra. This might be a good time to start a thread and rate all our tetras in terms of agresiveness @mydummyname. Will be nice to see this, and perhaps sticky it so everyone will know what we can keep with what?

Whoops! :notrust: I read rummy nose and not red eye. As @mydummyname says, red eye are semi aggresive and supposedly fin nippers. We will agree to disagree on keeping rummy nose with red phantoms.

@mydummyname Tiger Barbs imo is allot more agro then red eye tetras in a school, i drop of allot of Bettas @ my lps and we have no problems with red eye tetras, but do have problems with the Tigers. Why dont you start a thread and do some ratings on some tetras in terms of agresiveness? It will be nice to see who is rated the most aggresive to least, and I bet you neons and Rummy noses will be ontop of least agro.

i believe you have the stick completely at the wrong end dude. fish are more likely to be agressive if the school is not big enough. red eye tetra are as aggressive as tiger barbs and are also known fin nippers.

and keeping a betta with any of these fish is a recipe for disaster, you are looking for trouble and one dead betta with a combination like that. it doesnt matter if you see the lfs keeping these fish in these combination, lfs get it horribly wrong all the time.

it is a known fact that tiger barbs, red eye tetra, etc will go for any long finned slower moving fish.

i dont see why i should, we have enough threads on the forum where members have seen the disastrous consequences of keeping fish that are not compatible, we've gone in depth about the nature of fish like tiger barbs, rainbow sharks, malawis, oscars and other fish that are known to be aggressive, especially as with some of these types of fish they are only agressive under certain conditions.

we have recommended plenty of guys to change there tankmates when we see the fish are incompatible and when they choose not to listen to the advice, the fish die.

and then what, we cant say, 'but i told you this would happen'.. no all we can do is say 'sorry for your loss dude..'

under the correct conditions you can get away with keeping some aggressive fish with more passive or peaceful fish, but if you get it wrong. its good bye fish.

thank you, yes it is, my original plan was to build rock up to that level but was worried the tank couldn't handle it but from what i gathered from the experts here an extra layer of glass underneath and decent planc under my tank should be enough to support the rock weight.
    will keep updated
