    Just a small update...

The tank has been standing for last 2 weeks with the clamps in place.

James came through yesterday, the clamps came off and finished the overflow in the same colour finish as the side panels of the internal filters

He did the black trimming right around to cover the front panels of the internal filters as well as the base and top to hide all the bracing
    He also brought my sump

I like the look of the black trim all around. Gives a nice finish to it and hides all the ugly parts. Are you going to have a hood on the tank?

    Thanks @Pierré Schoonraad ...

To be honest.. I havent made a final decision on the hood...

The tank has slidders and he made 4 so that its easier for me to open them (due to the width)
I had the trimming done to hide the ugly parts and @Cesar will hang the lights from the ceiling for me

Then i will see what it looks like
I am also scared of a hood in this size tank... firstly because of the weight and second the ease for me opening and closing it
The length puts a lot of strain n the hinges..

So.. i dont know... Your thoughts?

Like the idea of sliders with hanging lights.

Can't wait to see this one up and running, looking great so far.

Really looking amazing. I think ahood would be overkill. The sliders should be enough and its will be easier to light. By the way, which lights are you going to use?

    Thanks @Kola

My existing tank has suspended lights and looks nice but the bracing etc always stares out at me but, with the trimming it should look neat

Hahaha.. you not the only one... I cant wait to see Flash in there

    Thanks...

You are right about the hood.... that was my feeling too.. it will look like a monster and just take the attention from the tank

For now i will probably just put up my existing lights, i think they T5..the one with the thin tubes as I have 2 that take 4 tubes each
Ultimately, I would like to get the Zetlights like Cesar has once everything else is done... maybe my Christmas present!!!

Looks very cool, leather grain trim sure does help to hide stuff, for me I would have waited a bit just to make sure I see no tears in the silicone at filling time. Still this is a super build.

Now to add the 3 guppies ...

Personally I hate canopies. Happy your not considering one.

    @MariaS

    Looking good.
What is your time frame re starting to fill with water?

I like a canopy on a tank. IMO it finishes it off nicely
But I agree with you. On a tank this say may be problematic re size, weight etc

One epic build! Congrats @MariaS its s a stunner!

One day when I'm big... or at least when I'm given some space in the house lol.

How liters of water in total in the house now when this one will be filled?

    Thanks Ferdie
Ummm... I didn't think of that.. now you got me worried...

I can see the join and silicone from the side though. Would it not show from the side angle if it was tearing?

Hahaha you mean like 3000 guppies!

    Thanks @Reedfish,

Filling.... it must sit for at least another 3 weeks.. that will make it 5 weeks...
If I remember right Cesar's big ones stood 6 or 7 weeks.. that was ok so I think 5 should be fine... what do you guys think?

Its driving me crazy just looking at it every night but... patience...
From next weekend @Cesar will start helping me with all the plumbing etc.. so the timing should work out fine
Lucky I don't need cycling or anything as I will transfer everything over from the existing tank, water, fish, media, plants so that also helps

I also like a canopy but in tanks up to about 1.8m.
Anything bigger the canopy becomes very heavy... and a pain to move if you want to work
I also found the hinges take strain after a while on very large canopies

Thanks @norman777 ... hahhaa.. you need to start sweet talking the other half...

When this one is filled, it will only be this one in my house as Flash's existing tank will come down
I will transfer everything over to this one
I have got a 6ft but that is only a grow out for pups if and when needed
At the moment its empty as my Henlei babies are now with Polkadot

Cesar's big tanks are in his house
We live on the same property but separate houses as we stay on a smallholding

Yup, I guess you just have to be patient
If you try rush it, it will only end in tears.

very very Nice build , It came together very well...
I remember James saying something about refilling , my tank had to stand for 4 weeks , the top bracing are most crucial ones , those must be cured...

    yes , perfect...
you can count another 2-3 weeks weeks , then you have 4-5 weeks total of which is good...then slowly add water daily...
my tank is cycling around 12 days now with matured media , going on holiday next week , then my fish is going in if parameters are perfect , should give me around 3-4 weeks cycling time

Hahha.. i will fill up slowly.. probably so slowly that Cesar will chase me out the house so he can work in peace!!

Will also let it stand full a few days

But i wont be cycling mine.
I have the 1.2m existing sump and 2 x C2400 Dophins full of media in the tank that's running which is more than enough for now so will just transfer everything over as well as water, wood, the whole lot in one go
Will add some stability for couple days for peace of mind and that's it... it will be a long day's work....

I will still have to add more media to fill up the new sump as its much bigger but that is not a big concern, the size of it is to cater for the rays future growth so i can do that a bit at a time as what i have now is more than enough for the fish i have right now.
