Impressive ... the question is, how many more can you fit into this tank or are we planning a new tank in 2018.

    Later Ferdie

    Thanks Ferdie...
And the answer is... no more fish will be added to this tank....
It was built for Polkadot and her friends, Flash, my clowns and Datnoids... not to be able to add every pretty fish I see..

I don't really like an overstocked tank and I like peace and harmony in the tank which I have with the above combination
Its also hard to explain but an adult Asian arowana and the rays are very special and just take your heart to the point where you see nice fish.. you appreciate them.. but you don't feel the urge or need to add them to your tank.. its like they fill your heart completely. Crazy? Yep.. maybe..

Flagtail I have had for a long time as well as my 2 geos and severum... in fact the only new fish was the Oscar that was in Cesar's tank and the red severum I rescued
However... I have actually taken out 3 of the fish....

The Oscar that was a real baby in Cesar's tank and mine for about a month started coming out of his shell and having no other territorial cichlid in the tank and being scared of Flash, decided to chase my rays around so... he has gone back to Cesar's cichlid tank where he is fine with his own kind!!
My flagtail who I love to pieces has grown really big... so I also moved him up to Cesar's tank where he looks stunning in that huge tank.. I still see him every day so its fine..
The red severum which was a rescue case had a problem with one of his eyes which i knew when I took him but I never managed to cure it and has eventually passed away.
So... no... its less fish... not more..

As for a new tank.... I don't know... only time will tell but for now I don't think so..
I suppose if the rays do ever get a bit too big and it does become necessary then I will have to, but it will be to accommodate the needs of my present kids.. not to add more..

    Hahaha something like that..

Breeding is very interesting but can also be very painful if the male doesn't work out what to do as they sometimes bite the female quite badly ...

But... one of our girls (I believe is gravid)... will post a video of the pups moving when I can get my timing right...although I think there is only one or two as she is quite young

Mom is a Henlei/BD X Marble.. just not sure yet who Dad was as, when we got home the deed was done so will have to wait and see once the pup/pups are born if all goes well
So.. Dad will either be Cesar's Leopoldi BD or the Mantila male as both were in the tank.. we were not expecting action so soon....
The deed happened on the 25th November so all going well by usual calculations.... due around 25th February
Being hybrids... dates could differ.. we just keep the fingers crossed now.

    Thanks very much..

They are very chilled and love attention.. as you can see, right at the beginning Polkadot is throwing a tantrum at me because Im ignoring her

Other nice thing is they dont fight and bully each other, the little ones are all over the big ones, try steal their food and they dont retaliate

Only problem is when they get to breeding age, you likely to have to separate the males from the females as they can be buggers and pester them constantly

    Thanks very much @TrevorR ...

    I absolutely love them

Im also very happy with the combination of fish that I eventually got to, as they all peaceful and get along beautifully

I have two Indo Datnoids that i miraculously picked up about two months ago but one is still a bit shy so you cant see him in the video the other one Im growing out in the pup tank as he is a it too small not to become breakfast.

    @MariaS

I've just spent the past 30 minutes reading (and admiring) this wonderful thread.

As the proud owner of my own 2m X 600 X 600 tank, I was blown away by the knowledge, understanding and pure passion for our hobby that you possess @MariaS.

Keeping rays, dats and arowana's are literally my top three bucket-list fish (peacock bass were up there, but I've got two now and they've been doing super well over the past 6 months).

With that being said - i acquired my first arowana (small fella) last week. Loving life and super active, currently housed on his own in a 90cm tank with the idea of introducing him into my 2m once he's filled out a bit.

Anyway, I digress. The point of this post was to thank you for this great thread and show my admiration for your passion and love for your animals!

    Keep us updated :)

    Cheers for now

    Seano
