so update... tied some moss to some of the branches.. added my old plants from old tank.. anubias and hygro.. everything was going to plan till i added the fish..2 of my siamese algae eaters jumped the bucket while i was drip treating them to put into the tank im really bummed abt it... they were one of my fav fish. now im just left with one of them
heres a write up on my dual temp display: http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/s...play-for-your-tank-and-hood&p=92653#post92653
Awesome idea man! I love gadgets. I do not understand the purpose though. Are you reading room temp and water temp, or heat from the lights. If heat from the lights, what is the theory?
shihr What is that thingy on the right inside your tank, making the bubbles? Can you also maybe give a close-up pic?
Another question. I read a review on your filter. http://www.aquariacentral.com/forum...ESUN-EF-2800U-Canister-filter-Review-and-Test. The guy recon the filter is very noisy. Is that true?
the filter is ok.. not too bad.. esp because its in the cabinet.. the second temp reads the temp of the lights.. its just interesting to see how hot they get..not that necessary but looks cool that thing on the right is a co2 diffuser used for carbon ferterlizing for my plants.. i'll take a pic for u later..
looking awesome man, bad news abou the SAE's they are really cool fish. i also lost 2 of my guys when i changed tanks
eish... im still bummed abt it.. my last SAE just swims in loops and circles im scared that he might die due to stress... have to get him some friends soon had 4 rams.. the dominant male ram harassed the other male and female to death but atleast it seems like i have a breeding pair.. silver lining? not really..
I suppose the requirements change from tank to tank, but with respect to the Co2, how many " bubbles per second " are you injecting into the tank ? Also, do you have like a drop checker or sumin to determine when you have enough Co2 being injected ?
That sucks... Yesterday my sev. grabbed my golden apple snail by the tentacle and shook him around a bit. Never saw that coming!
i use a bubble counter.. well, i was injecting 3-4 bubbles per sec.. but i could see that this was getting abit overwhelming for the fish since the plants havnt properly settled in yet so i dropped it down to 2-3 BPS.. will crank it up again when the plants grow in..
Ok makes sense - thanks for the reply ! Im sure once everything has settled / has grown in more it will look even better - great job so far though !
i really dont think there is an exact science to dosing co2..for me, if the plants are pearling like crazy and the fish look happy then things are ok.. if the fish look like they gasping for air then turn it down.. my plants are pearling already but not as hectic yet.. oh and dosing co2, you need to watch your ph though.. you could very easily get a ph crash and everything dies.. luckily in jhb we have hard water so co2 brings to ph and hardness to a comfortable level for the plants and fish
Well done man. Pics are great especially the one with the reflection at the top. Sorry for the lost of your fish. You planing to put some top level swiming fish there?
i really want to.. but im scared they'll jump.. i was thinking of getting hatchet fish.. but they seem like jumpers.. and at R30 each, that can become really pricy..
i made a HUGE mistake this wkend.. i added too much fish at one time.. basically i had a nitrate spike.. fish started to die.. it was such a novice mistake.. i cant believe it... so i added a bag of charcoal into the tank and some rooibos in the hopes of helping with filtration..did a 20% water change too.. going to do 10% changes from today till it gets better.. SH#T man.. really angry with myself.....
