Its skeef boys. Looking good shihr, if it is the hinges I think it is then they should be able to adjust but only to a point though. So where is the tank?
@shihr If the cabinet is perfectly flat on top, what are you going to use as a barrier layer between the glass and the wood? Or is there some sort of shroud going on the tank to cover the polystyrene?
i was thinking about getting rubber mat.. but i just dont have time to go shopping eventhough i do have a suplier in mind... so im going to probably just use the polystyrene it came with.. maybe paint it black as well? donno.. haha.. vis, the tank is on the table.. im not strong enough to lift 100 or so kgs by my self.. so will wait for some friends to come over hehe.. im not in such a hurry funny enough.. tank - check stand - check filter - check gravel - check rocks - check drift wood - check plants - check lights - not check this wkend though thanks for the compliments though guys.. really apreciate it..
hey.. its too big to grip man hehe.. and i dont wanna drop the tank better safe than lose 1500 hehe..
thanks guys.. i want to diy the lights but not sure where to buy t5 balasts etc.. else i might just buy ready made ones.. still searchin.. anyways, i fitted the filter last night.. was such a tight squeeze it nearly didn fit! my heart almost stopped! anyways i can see maintenance being a B*tch... its fine though.. fish will be happy
filled the tank to see if there are any leaks or if the cabinet will fail.. 3days and counting.. no problems.. except the doors! i know im complaining.. just cant stand them.. will redo them soon washing gravel in the meantime
ok, every day there is progress! got my lights.. now have to build canopy..just a few pics of the lights being tested.. 4x54w is very bright the wood grew this weird fungi.. what should i do? was thinking of just leavin it and see if it goes away?? and heres a rough sketch of my cannopy: i want to build it out of supa wood and alunimium.. tell me what you think..
Seems like that white fungi is almost part of the woods cycle. Had it all over my tetra tank and it went away by itself. My angels for some reason liked to eat it and not the algae eaters.
Hey Shihr - dont worry 'bout the fungus to much - just some dead organic matter that has attracted some fungu growing on it... Once "used up" the fungus will die off... Otherwise a dip in a srong potasium permanganate(Condy's crystals) will kill it off... Lighting design looks AWESOME - Youve just been subcontracted to do some for me in the future...lol
ok so finally finished washing the gravel.. turns out 50kg wasn enough so i ended up washing 100kg in total!! i'll probably do some hard scape tonight and fill it im going away for 2wks so i'll let this tank cycle whilst im gone.. CANNOT WAIT.. btw, thanks for the info @azurekoi @Vis..
woah thats alot of light i only only have 4 x 18 w cfl's on my 4 foot. but then again i dont have any demanding plants in there. for the doors have you maybe considerd using sliding rails, u seem to have enough space on the side of the cabinet to slide the doors, also it should stay straight forever (maybe ) but over time the hinges will always sag giving that skew look. tank is looking great man.
:amazed: :amazed: :amazed: Daaaaamn dude!! VERY VERY NICE!!!!! Can't wait for the update!! PS. EEEEEEEK @ washing a 100kgs of gravel.. I did around 20kgs for my tank and it was a big mission!! :smile1: But hey, what's done is done!! Best of luck!! Gonna be stunning!!
Looking verrrry nice shihr, I wish I could build a cabinet like that. The adjustments to the hinges should be easy...
