I use a wooden hood covered with epoxy,it has tiny holes that allow some air into the tank. I have a 100Litre so it all depends how big your tank is.

I think the hood would be better,you can do a lot of extra DIY with a hood in the future,but the final decision is up to you.
The Glo T5 HO is waterproof so i don't think it will be effected by water evapouration.

Get a auto timer for your lights,mine came with one from the old owners,the lights stay off during the night and go on about 05:00 in the morning.
