With sumps bigger is always better. With bigger sumps you also have more water volume so less chance of sudden spikes of any kind, lots of space...

Hi. Agree... sump always best. Just to throw a spanner in the works. I have been using a diy pvc overflow thats not glued and with no check valve...

Morning. Just to chip in here. The tank llewellyn talked about is a 150 x 50 x 50 tank, braced top and bottom from 6mm glass but with 10mm base....
