i use pottongspoil with vermiculite and a bit of peat moss as substrate. New one the terra cotta pot crushed. Quite interesting :)

t5s is way more efficient and works longer than t8s which fades over the year and have to be replaced, T5's dont have to be replaced so often. And...

if you can get endcaps for t5's why not. the ballasts loos neat. but i dont know if the moisture will do anything besides rust.
