Dont plant it in the whole bunch. Take the whole bush appart and plant tiny pieces all over the area you want to carpet. Atleast try diy co2

They dont need co2 at all. It wot make a difference

there is acautic plants that has firm stems. might be some sort of hygro. remember most lfs plants is in the emmersed form
I grown java fern in my tank with 8x39w t5 lights. Try dont turn transparent. Amano grows java fern under MH lights
Plants also use oxygen at night so you need to add a airstone at night. Co2 must be switched on an hour before lights on and switch off an hour...
The betta will maybe kill the male guppy also
