If the parents get stressed too much they will eat their own fry also. And it was their first spawn. Better luck next time
Ive seen some at petshop. Eheim also has pre feiltwra. Costs about 200. My filters stay clean for about month and half up to 2months
If you want to extend the time between filter clean get yourself prefilters for the inlet pipes of the canisters. Just rinse that little spunge...
