That should be fine, only other challenge may be the cold, but bacteria normally go into dormancy if that is the case, so won't die off - good...
@Biggles if you are going to let the tank stand dry for a day or two you will need a full cycle. Bacteria should be able to stay alive for 4-8...
@blueskipjack - yip, very cool little snails, but I believe they are on the black list in South Africa, so you may struggle to find them.
