None of my plants get affected by the tea water. But then again mine isnt darkly stained.
Where did you get the wood? I just soak it for a few weeks until it sinks. Just change the water every couple of days.
I prefer the use of flourite, especially for a beginner tank. ADA soil is a stunning product but I found it is a bit finicky for a starter tank....
