but excel is meant to make ur plants grow well not hurt them :P i know of ppl dosing 2x the amount everyday with ok results though..

co2 is there to ensure that plants are strong enough to out compete algae.. he prob has some harder to keep plants in there too that require co2.....
can maybe try a diy pc fan blowing on the surface of the water.. they do that in the hotter places overseas and that brings the water temp down...
but @Fishygirl101 i rem when chatting to u that u want to go to co2 soonish too.. then i'd suggest going to petstop and buy a 4x39w t5 fixture.....
