What Type of Geophagus Do I have ?

Hi All, Hoping you can help me. Wanting to find out what type of Geophagus I have in my cichlid tank ?. I have a male and female. i was told they are Tapajos but not 100% sure.

 

Im no expert, maybe others can weigh in but my guess is Geophagus pellegrini.

How old are they ? That would also help to know if they're fully grown or still subadults

 

Hi There. They are still subadults as far as I know. I was told they only a couple of months old.

 

Definitely think they're pellegrini then, you can see the hump starting to develop on the male.

But again, this is my opinion, I could be wrong

 

Thanks Guys. Is it true that the Pellegrini are a difficult species to keep in a tank. Apparently the male needs a harem of females to keep him in check otherwise he ends up killing the female is there is just one.
