Aaaaaaaaaaaah. The suspense is killing me. Just to thin the air a bit, it's your fish so you can do pretty much whatever you want. The consequences will be yours to deal with. We can only voice our opinion, that's all. If it doesn't involve cruelty it's good to experiment I say.

no cruelty guaranteed as im a fish lover as is most here....

Also not an experiment as far as im concerned.... more like a chance to prove to myself that the first time was not a fluke...

im still contemplating on whether I should type out my story at this stage or at the culmination (after 10months) of my "theory" as it only a becomes a proven formula at that point and I might avoid a lot of explaining up untill that stage of development.

Quick question BoelderBeestie, how old is your second batch of fry, aren't they roughly the same age as my +-10 pigeon fry batch?

PS. I was going to attempt my first explanation of my "theory" this weekend but then one of my tanks bases cracked and almost lost 12 discus (3 pairs in this tank)... caught it when the tank was at +-10% full ...

still reeling with that crap feeling of "what if I hadn't spotted it in time".... so forgive me if im not enthusiastic about typing my theoretical explanation at this point as I have tank re-enforcement theories on my mind at present. In fact im here at work wanting to go and check if my other tanks are okay, extremely paranoid right now

Oooh that's bad yes. Will stop bugging then till you get your tanks sorted. I went through a similar bad spell with my heaters failing on me. Nothing worse than sitting at work worrying if your fish are ok, I know that paranoia very well.

The second batch is 2 weeks old.

Good luck with the tanks and shout if you need any help.

thank you, just exhausted my monthly budget last week, so going to have to sort out a temporary measure for the 12 other fish at least till month end.

Please keep us posted on the development of that second batch as it will be good comparison to this pigeon batch regarding growth rates at similar hatching time frames, if you don't mind I would like to reference my theory with this batch using your second batch as a yard stick but ill seek your approval prior posting though, thanks

For Discus breeding the ideal tank that most breeders recomend is 600 x 450 x 450

I went a little bigger at 60x60x60. My fish won't fit in a 45x45. My 250L is 45 front to back and with the breeding pot they can't fit as their tails touch the glass when behind or infront of the pot. So in a cube that size won't work for them.

just got a few quotes and its actually going to work out much much cheaper buying a second hand tank as some of them are practical givaways and since it wont be used as a display tank I think ill go that route
