Thanks man... I have a great company handling all the customs stuff, so there shouldn't be any major issues. But thanks for the info!

 

So... Wednesday, the shipment lands in Durbs!! Not sure how long it's going to take to clear customs, but Wednesday it's here!!

Damn it!! I just found out that the ship was delayed in Singapore... The shipment will only be here on the 5th of December. I seriously hope that the Customs folk don't go on leave before my shipment has cleared!!! I'm seriously pissed off about this. Surely the company knew about this before today? Considering it's going to be about 20 days late? Damn it!!

lol im sorry didnt mean to bring it on,we import via sea also at work here and iv yet to see a ship dock on time,from what i know they dont close close for xmas but we do and i believe they charge for storage.

 

Well, I don't close for Christmas, so they must send it!!

Welcome to the shipping industry!!

From past experience (from chatting with other importers and Henk), you can always assume a shipment to be approximately a month late. I recall Henk had a shipment due in December, and only received in in Feb this year!

Oh, and let's not forget about the HUGE backlog that is happening at the DBN docks at the moment. The steel insdustry SA was expecting Steel bullions this week, however they have been issued a delay expantancy of 14 working days due to the harbour backlog. (Weather permitting that is)

 

Oh my... That is totally not the news I have been waiting to hear. Damn it. And now we wait some more then.

 

Well, not ALL bad news today... I finally got my new cube tank!! And my cabinets will be ready tomorrow! Sweet! Pity I have to wait for another 3 weeks before I can set it up.

 

Yea dont EVER tell a client your shipment is here till its actually on the truck outside your warehouse. You also need to get a better clearing and forwarding agent. They should have kept you in the loop with the ETAs etc.

The ship wasnt delayed but they actually transshipped your stuff in Sing. Best to change freight agents. Who do you currently use?
