Brooklyn Aquarium Society Invites TASA To Participate in Our Fish Questions & Answers

BAS has started a Fish Q & A not unlike Yahoo's. Ours is being administered by me, and all Best Answers will be chosen by our Board and panel of experts. All TASA members may register on our free Public Forum and ask and answer any Fish Hobby related question. 5 points will be awarded for questions asked, 1 for each answer, and 3 for the Best Answer. Prizes will be awarded for the persons with the most question and most answer points at the end of the year. We look forward to conversing with you.

People are gonna ask dumb ass questions just to get points...and not for knowledge. Glad I'm not an admin or moderator working there. Best of luck tho...hope it doesn't turn out to be a waste of time like yahoo's Q&A

 

Thanks. If inteerested, you can sign up at the Brooklyn Aquarium Society Public Forum and post a question just as at TASA and answers in the replies box. Prize winners out of state or overseas will get free magazine subscriptions.

 

So far it has started slow, so we don't expect to get overwhelmed with idiocy especially as we are targeting our ads at reputable organizations and aquarium stores. I have a lot experience at Yahoo as the only person ever to have been Top Contributor in Fish and Reptiles both, and we do have community guidelines that will allow me or our Board to weed out stupid questions. We encourage beginner's questions though, as the Yahoo system obviously often doesn't pick the Best Answers. Prizes including overseas magazine subscriptions will be awarded for the most legit questions and most answer points.

This is just duplication of what we already have. I don't think it is lekka. If you want to answer any questions you are welcome to answer our questions here. And I think we are happy asking our questions here. If you had something new to offer us then that would be great but this is just shallow. Are you looking for hits on your website?

 

Not quite. We are offering prizes quarterly as an incentive to participate. Had Yahoo Fish Answers not been so crippled and then changed for the worse after the security breach, we wouldn't have done it. I personally was their only top contributor in both Reptiles and Fish ever, with a very high Best Answer percentage. Brooklyn has a deep educational tradition, and now that Yahoo Answers is so dysfunctional and losing support, we thought we would organize it under a separate section of our Forum. Of course we have the greatest respect for TASA, or we would not have been communicating with you for the past year. We recognize that you are quite competent to answer questions. We obviously would like to be a success on our forum so we are making it an educational contest. We are doing point of purchase ads in the USA, and inviting our corresponding societies to participate if they want to.
