The one Catfish gave me a scare, we had a power outage from around 01:00 am this morning still on going to got a dc air pump started up for some water movement. Looked like he was stiff in floating a in the middle of the tank. The moment I moved to take a pic he started swimming away. He played dead and gave me a fright.

Looked fine, not sure if he just played dead or something, did not expect it. power only came back on about 10 minutes ago. So when I get home tonight I will go through everything and hope they are all fine. Still saving up to do a proper UPS backup for my setup.

Thanks, feeding them 3 times a day a well. just to ensure everyone is getting their bit. Will be doing weekly water changes for this. Today I will burn through my first 325ml bottle of Seachem safe that I started with on Sunday o_O. one of the Brichardi I also saw got into the first chamber of the sump filter because they are so small, will pick up a small net on the way home to get him out this afternoon.

Doing great will do an update on the tank shortly. Can see some differences in growth on most, but it being tang cichlids they do not grow too fast. Hectic to balance work/home life as of late so not spending as much time with my tanks as I would like to. In times when it gets tough sitting in front of this tank just makes it all worth it.

    @Ortaega

I would love to see some photos.

Must say, I am finding Tangs grow incredibly slowly.
    Frustratingly slow.
Have had my setup for almost a year now. Would have expected my fish to be a lot bigger than they are

Know the feeling. Luckily if I relook at old photos I can see quite a big difference, but I guess it is going to take another +/- 2 years before they are at a decent size. Still deciding on my lights I want to change as well. Currently running normal LED tube ones and was thinking of changing it for 3-4 30w/50w spotlights instead, but still undecided. Gives a nice shimmer off on the tank.

They take very loooong to grow lol and this is also the time in which they grow the fastest in the 1st 2 years or so of their lives and after then it takes pretty long to get to full adult size. Still enjoying the journey thus far, with work keeping me so busy I've not had much time to make impulse changes to the tank.

Just the light setup I think I want o have a look at and then flow within the tank itself I want to sort off fine-tune a bit. Other than that just doing some maintenance/cleans every now and then else enjoying the setup. Still need to make plans and look at getting a separate 4ft tank within the next year or so.

One of them has grown quite a bit looks like a dominant tank male, at least not bullying the rest as far as I can see.

    please post update pics
Think tangs slow growth rate has always put me off, but also makes me appreciate a large colony of balanced adults in Aquarim. Appreciate the 3-5 years of effort and care.

Oh yeah, forgot to add to this. My wife liked an oscar she saw at the lfs about 2 months ago & we got it.

I Will do a.s.a.p. just want to wipe down the glass nicely again this

Normally I would not do this setup. I'm quite impatient at times, but over the years got quite better with this and a big part of this was due to the hobby when I first started out.

Was a huge tug of war between setting up a lake Malawi setup/Oscars & other big cichlids. My mind even went to a planted setup with loads of micro fish, but keeping planted in this setup for me would've been too much work in the end.

Fronts were the main reason I started taking a liking to the hobby as a kid. Really enjoying them when they're not hiding and cannot wait till they at least all the size of that as the dominant male. In a few year's time I know I will look back and it will be all have been worth it!

On the other hand, it is quite fun again to see the growth rate on the oscar he is almost the size of my biggest front and it barely took 3 months for him to reach its size.

A few more random pics I could get of them, I need to get a black suit and sit in the dark to take pictured of these fish, because the moment I get a cam out they start hiding behind the rocks or won't pose for photos. :pIMG_20210709_191606.jpg IMG_20210709_191630.jpg IMG_20210709_191637.jpg IMG_20210709_191647.jpg IMG_20210709_191703.jpg IMG_20210709_191706.jpg IMG_20210709_191729.jpg IMG_20210709_191759.jpg IMG_20210709_191825.jpg IMG_20210709_191829.jpg IMG_20210709_191839.jpg IMG_20210709_191900.jpg IMG_20210709_191915.jpg IMG_20210709_191921.jpg IMG_20210709_191926.jpg

Will upload some more when I get some nice pics of them all, the loaches and catfish are rarely seen but know they are all still there.
