I decided to change the lighting system on my 60cm cull tank, and got myself the Zetlight Lancia ZP400-590.
As the name suggests, the length of the light is 590mm.

The light replaces a mix-mash of lights that were over the tank previously.
The previous lights consisted of the following:
    2 x Dophin 10 LED 6W clip-ons.
    1 x Sobo 12 LED 16W clip-on.
1 x Akwa 22 LED ziplocked to the Sobo.

The before an after pictures show the difference.
Algae is still a problem, but with judicious use of Scape Liquid Carbon and Scape Complete I believe the algae can be managed.

Plants in the tank are only Anubias Nana, Java Moss, Xmas Moss and some Subwassertang.

If your tank is not deep then I agree but penetrating 700mm to 1 meter no ways .

They did not come close giving the same amount of light as a dual t5 lights at the bottom

The tank is a standard 60cm, and the depth is 32cm.
More than enough for the Zetlight to do what is has been designed to do.
Larger lights are also stronger, and should penetrate the required depth of 120cm and larger tanks.

The longer the lights, the more LEDs, watts and lumens they produce.

The ZP4000-590 is rated at 23W, has 63 x 0.3W LEDs, and output is 1700 Lumin
The ZP4000-1200 is rated at 46W, has 147 x 0.3W LEDs, and an output of 4100 Lumin.

I don't think the manufacturers would design and market something that isn't going to work.

    I had 4 ZP400-895 . Gave them back after a day
They did not penetrate as well as 4 double t5 lights .

    Just my experience

On what size tank were you using the 895?

Also, if you're using 36" T5's. they are generally rated at 39W each.
Putting 8 of them over a tank I suppose there would be nothing that can compare.
You have a total of 312W over that tank, as compared to a total of 34W from a single ZP4000-895.

The bottom line is that I am satisfied with the new lights that I got.
They work for me, and I can see the livestock I have in the tank also like it.
As a plus, they don't have to wear sunglasses with 300+W blinding them.

With lighting there will always be various opinions. I'm using the Zetlight ZA1200 (16 Watt) on my 30cm cube and a Zean G100 (70 Watt) on my 4ft. I forget constantly to change the tubes so I switched to LED. Awesome lights and they definitely work way better thank normal T8 or T5 tubes, IMO. And they do save electricity. If I had the cash lying around all my tanks will have Zetlights. @Pezulu are you, by any chance, using the time from Zetlight with your set-up?

I wish I had the spare cash lying around to get the remote receiver and controllers.
With that setup everything is timed and automated, and even moon phases can be set
At this stage it is about R1200 for the controller and remote, and about R350 per receiver.
The controller can be connected to a maximum of 6 receivers, with each receiver being connected to a light.

As it is, the lights get switched on manually to moonlight mode from about 7am to 9am, then full on until 5pm, then back to moonlight until about 7pm.

Can you post a pic of the one you got?
    Apparently there are 2 available.
One allows the control of 2 lights, and the other up to 6.

This is what mine looks like with the light connector.[IMG]
This one is for 2 lights. Check your connector on your light it might be different to this one. If I remember right the bigger lights have 4 pins.

Decided to splurge, and got the A200 WiFi Controller, and a Receiver.
It cost about R50 more than the i200 Controller, and uses the same receiver.

    Setup was straight forward.
    1. Disconnect light from power.
    2. Remove the power switch between the aircraft switch and jack plug.
    3. Install the receiver where the power switch was removed.
    4. Download the Horizon app.
    5. Follow the Quick Settings, to set date, time, connect to WiFi Router, etc.
    6. Switch on the power at the wall.
    7. Search for the device. Light blinks 5 times when it is picked up.
    8. Match the light with your WiFi network. Light blinks 8 times.
    9. Set the various time zones, and the brightness of the light channels.
    10.Sit back and relax.

Time settings are straight forward as well:
    1. 06:15 - 08:00 Dawn
    2. 08:00 - 10:00 Sunrise
    3. 10:00 - 16:30 Daylight
    4. 16:30 - 19:00 Sunset
    5. 19:00 - 23:30 Night
    6. 23:30 - 06:15 Sleep mode

The controller can connect 100 devices, so getting more lights for my other 7 tanks, and setting them up should be limited only by cost.484010073.jpg
