    Hi All,

just wanted to check if anyone here used woodoc before?

just got some at a good price and the texture isnt what i thought it would be. Seems to be quite runny, like cooking oil. Is this the correct texture?

P.S its the woodoc 50 for marine use.

    Thanks
    Kogan

Yes, it's meant to be liquid. Sounds interesting, are you using it on a tank cabinet?

Yes i am. Its apparently one of the best products to protect the wood from water damage. Just thought it would be thicker than oil, sort of like golden syrup.

Yeah, no, more like water :) That's the point, it soaks into the wood which apparently provides better protection. We've always used it, it really does work.

After first coat, let dry for few hours. Sand down with 1000 or 1500 grit sandpaper. Apply at least 5 coats woodoc, sanding between coats.

Use the woodoc steel wool rather than the sand paper.

I agree with the steel wool. I use 000 grade steel wool instead of sand paper. Sandpaper clogs up way too quickly. The steel wool also gives a better finish. Sand paper consists of lots of tiny, sharp glass or ceramic beads embedded into the paper backing. When pressed onto the paint, they actually tear or rip the paint. The steel wool on the other hand consists of many fine, sharp coils of steel. Each coil or curl acts like a miniature wood plane and actually cuts the paint instead of tearing it. This produces a much smoother and finer finish!
Just be sure to use the finest grade steel wool you can.
