Yesterday I went home early from work and arrived there to find that my wild X discus have spawned!! They laid a good amount of eggs on the spawning cone in their housing tank, and have begun to beat up the other 2 discus in their tank. I am now in the process of setting up a 5 ft grow out tank for them. I just need to hook up the filters and fill the thing up.

WOOT!! I also managed to get some BS eggs. So these guys wont go hungry either!! I'll post some pics soon.

Ja, I just hope they make it! The other 2 in the tank are taking some serious abuse at the moment...

Thanks guys. I'll take some decent pics this evening and upload them soon.

    They are beautiful Discus!

If you were in Cape Town, I'd be asking to be put on the waiting list for some Juveniles, obviously once they're big enough and stopped milking their parents! Hehe!

    Cheers
    Big G!

Nope. They munched them. Damn. It's cool. Gives me time to setup the other tank for them. Hopefully next time.

No, but it was the first time they never ate them right after laying them! Hopefully they will get it on the next attempt. It takes a while, but they will get it eventually.

On another note, I do have some Sunburst A. cacatuoides fry!! Found them yesterday!

Why are there hazard cones in your tank?

LOL!! It's not a hazard cone, it's a ceramic breeding cone. Made for the specific purpose of Discus and Angel breeding. Something to lay their eggs on.
