    Hello fellow fish keepers.

Have been off the radar for a few months. And was just wondering who is still around and what is new and happening in this amazing hobby. Any thoughts on the hip and happening. Im still running low tech currently. Mmm don't know for how long. Miss growing all sorts of plants like I did with my legendary "The Puntius Effect come and say howzit if you have been active the last few years.

    Enjoy this wonderful calming hobby.

    Welcome back,

All same same ... new gear at good prices have been landing from mostly top-aqua.com, local guys trying to bring in JBL products - love the test kits. Few new faces that are relatively active - some are planning on moving to the UK, group buy of OC+ went well - good job to those involved. TASA is now hijacking images and scaling them down no matter where you want to host them. Mods have taken a chill pill - or maybe the members goals in life have just changed. Moolis did a buce import - not sure what petstop has left. Less and less sponsor interaction all round - suspect social media is getting more focus. Zebra Pleco has done some site enhancements - articles, RSS feeds and some weird WOW thing for competition pics. Oh ADA is MIA, epic aquatics has gone big in local plant cultivation - stock quality has improved. People still forget to put a location on the profile page - suspect many are minors so maybe not a bad thing.

WC's are still the first step to sorting things out and the number of serial posters that do not actually have a fish tank has decreased. Most of the old guys are either lurkers or have left the hobby / TASA / the internet.

Nobody, knows the status of most plants and fish - http://www.invasives.org.za/ is trying to fix that, but the BL polices have also stopped shouting wolf ... mostly.

Not sure if I missed anything ...

    Later Ferdie

    Hi and welcome back

I haven't been around as long as you guys but... have seen some members go.. lurk in the background.. which makes me sad but.. I guess its the way it goes..
Always nice to see old members return or become active again and I hope we will see more as time goes on

As @f-fish says.. I suppose social media is very much the in thing but personally I feel its not the same..
Today its there... tomorrow gone.. not like the interaction and knowledge accumulated in a forum

Be it as it may.. hope you enjoy your return!

I too took a break for around a year and started up again. Finally purchased my monster tank, 210x60x80 with a starfire front panel.Set up a low tech 2 foot with some endlers and danios. My focus has changed from keeping fish to breeding them.So basically getting a species to breed, raise the fry and move on to the next species. On the list to breed so far is zebra danios, glo danios, ancistrus , angels and maybe silver dollars of possible.

Hmmm... High-tech? African solutions for African fish... DIY filter, el-cheapo heater and backup thermostat... add light for viewing or just use the sun....

PS. Nobody really uses the backup thermostat... but I can recommend one.

Welcome back man. I still check the forum daily but rarely post as most of the topics that I have seen have been covered numerous times over the years. My Paludarium is still going really well and my CA and SA cichlids are still growing out nicely but some aggression started occurring forcing me to move some of them into another large tank.

For those interested in following a super interesting Aquarium Channel on Youtube, check out The King of DIY https://www.youtube.com/user/uarujoey/videos. Joey has been working on his own awesome aquarium gallery. My favourite is his 2000gal concrete tank with his Asian Aro, a Flowerhorn and 4 sting rays. I'm definitely stealing some ideas for some future projects :)
